Hello everybody, I got myself an SSD and had to start from scratch, installing Windows 7 x86, drivers, programs etc... I always install my internet security last after I've imaged my system. All was going fine but when I installed DW it slowed down my SSD, not to the point where it was crawling, but the speed enhancements that my SSD has over my HDD seemed to have gone.
Has anybody else got DW installed on an SSD, and if so has it slowed your SSD down at all? Or is there any settings I need to change so as I can have DW on my system without it hampering the performance of my SSD so much.
What I find strange is that DW didn't noticeably slow down my HDD, so I didn't expect it to slow down my SSD as noticeable as what is has done. I've tried it with the MS AHCI drivers that came with Windows 7 and the latest Intel RST drivers as well, but to no avail.
Any help will be much appreciated.

The only thing I can do for you is to send a number of test drivers set to find out what's going on.

I have a computer with an Intel SSD and XP. I have not had any problems with DW.

Thanks for your replies guys.
I'll get back to you Ilya on them drivers in a couple of weeks or so. I've just spent four days getting my system back to where it was before I got the SSD and my head's mashed.
I've replaced DW with Geswall for now and my SSD is back to top speed. I've noticed in the last 6 months of using DW that it monitors what's going on a lot more closely than Geswall does so it might just be that. I hope not because I do prefer DW.
Anyway I'll get back to you Ilya when my head isn't in a bin.

Hi smallpebble!
I am using an Intel G2 SSD about one year now and i really didn t notice any major slowdowns with Defensewall. The slowdown is even lower than installing Avast or Avira for example. So normally you shouldn't even notice Defensewall is there. Hiope you can get the problem solved soon.

Hello Hybride, I installed Avira given what you said and Avira caused next to no slow down. It's a weird one this. What I think I'll do, when I have the time, is install Windows 7 x86 from scratch, and then put DW on before anything else. If there's still slow down at that point then it looks like it's going to be an unresolvable problem.
Thanks everybody for your replies.

P.S. My SSD is an OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB if that makes any difference.

Hi smallpebble!
Well i don t think that the type of SSD makes any difference. But what i can tell that i install Defensewall as the last program to avoid conflicts. I don t think you should reinstall everything from scratch as you did. Try to uninstall Defensewall and make sure to erase all settings and reinstall. Have a look if that changes anything. If not get the special drivers from Ilya and let him look at. Over the time Defensewall got too important for me than to have it not installed.

Because I've got my system backed up with Acronis, I decided to secure erase the SSD and install Windows 7 from scratch. I then ran the WEI which sets up TRIM, disables auto defrag for the SSD and generally sets Windows up so as the SSD will run optimally.
I then installed DW and the slow down was still noticeable, it might just be me being picky, but there is no noticeable slowdown with Geswall, even with all my programs installed.
With internet security, priority number one for me has always been how it affects system performance. When I had my OS on a HDD, with both DW and Geswall there was no noticeable slowdown, so I went with the better security software. But now I've got an SSD there is a noticeable slowdown with DW, even on a fresh install of Windows 7, and there is no noticeable slowdown with Geswall. So for now I have to go with 2nd best for internet security to keep my system running optimally.
I'll try it again when SP1 comes out for Windows 7 and see what happens.
Thanks again for all your help.

I've had Geswall on for a week or so and it's no good, I don't feel safe without DW. So I've had to put DW back on. Rather than use my backed up settings, I decided to redo my settings from scratch, and doing this has helped. There is still some slowdown but not as much. I can live with this slowdown, it still isn't as quick as with Geswall, but it doesn't slow down half as much as it was before, and my SSD feels like an SSD, where before it felt like a HDD.

That s good to hear!
Always having the same feeling without Defenswall, i never feel safe. Have been playing arround with many AVs but Defenswall stays, what ever comes on my PC.
