Hi everybody!

DefenseWall 3.13 beta is just out.

1. A serious issue may allow malware to execute on every Windows restart solved. smallpebble, thank you for heading this up.
2. "Stop attack" now restarts services that were terminated in order to restore full computer functionality without restart.
3. Minor updates and fixes.

Hi Ilya,

I'm getting BSOD's with this beta. Re-booted three times and it crashed every time. I had to go into safe mode and uninstall. I'm running Win7 Ultimate 32-bit.

OK, got it. Could you send me minidump files zipped? I can't reproduce with my test virtual machines.

Edited: just found an error may lead to BSOD. New build uploaded.

Sent you the minidump files to the support address. I'll try the new beta version and see what happens.

Kris

Edit: New beta version working fine thumbsup.gif

Just tried it with that "Win 7 Total Security" rogue AV and if I do "Stop Attack" I get a message telling me that "Defense Wall service is inaccessible", but it does terminate the rogue. However if I just terminate the one process causing the problem, then it terminates the rogue as expected.

I then need to load Firefox as trusted because the default browser setting has been messed with, I then set Firefox as my default browser, close trusted Firefox and all is well again. Funny though, I don't get any popups with IE8.

EDIT : I've just restored my C drive to a clean state using Acronis and then installed the latest DW beta 3.13. I still get that message "Defense Wall service is inaccessible" if I do a "Stop Attack" with any untrusted app on a clean system i.e. IE8, Firefox. Put 3.12 back on and no popup when i do "Stop Attack".

OK, got it. Will check out what's going on there.

Edited: do you have defensewall_serv.exe running?

Yes I do have defensewall_serv.exe running. I opened task manager and it was there. I left task manager open and when I clicked "Stop Attack" that popup "Defense Wall service is inaccessible" still appears and defensewall_serv.exe is still running even after I close the popup.

For your info, Ilya, I myself only get "Defense Wall service is inaccessible" when there is NO program running as Untrusted. Else, everything seems OK here. Win7 fully up to date.

Good luck.

Strange, can't reproduce. Are you running Win7 by default or under user rights account?

When insatalling latest beta today I got error message that program may not be installed properly (did not reboot). I reinstalled again and allowed to reboot this time.

When I terminate a program using stop attack button I get message "Defense Wall service is inaccessible'. It did terminate the program (Firefox). I am running as administrator with UAC turned off. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium x86. I checked and DW is running.

I've just downloaded and installed the latest build - no problems so far (Windows 7 32-bit).

I run Win7 as admin. I'll proceed to download the new, just uploaded 3.13 beta though. If the "error" persists, I'll tell you. Also, no UAC activated here. But I use Microsoft Security Essentials (latest version). Previous version of DW (3.12) was facing problems when running side by side with it (slowing down the system load). Remember my reporting you this?

Regards.
