I tried to uninstall the isearch toolbar and have deleted it from the registry, the browser, and my programs. However, I am still not able to customize any of my toolbars. I hit View and they are all gray still. All I get when I right click is the ability to add text labels. Also, if I type a word in the address bar rather than a complete address it will not take me to that page anymore. Please help! crying.gif

Just little bit of cleanup left to do. The greyed out Toolbar options is part of the iSearch infection. Removing iSearch with AdAware will clear this out but for here is a registry file that will restore them:

1. Open an empty Notepad file.
2. Copy the following and paste it into the new Notepad file.

REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoBandCustomize"=-
"NoToolbarCustomize"=-
"Btn_Search"=-
"SpecifyDefaultButtons"=-
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoBandCustomize"=-
"NoToolbarCustomize"=-
"Btn_Search"=-
"SpecifyDefaultButtons"=-

3. Save the file as 'isearchfix.reg'
4. Double click on this file and merge it into your registry.

Your Toolbar Options should now be available.

Then:
Before we do anything, please move HiJackThis to a permanent folder. I suggest 'c:\program files\hijackthis\' but any folder other than the Desktop or a temporary folder is fine. This will allow us to use backups to restore entries if necessary

Check the following items in HijackThis.
R3 - URLSearchHook: iSearch Toolbar - {1C78AB3F-A857-482e-80C0-3A1E5238A565} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\toolbar.dll (file missing)

O3 - Toolbar: iSearch Toolbar - {1C78AB3F-A857-482e-80C0-3A1E5238A565} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\toolbar.dll (file missing)

Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

Reboot. (not necessary, but recommended)

To reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster and SpyWareGuard and IE/Spyad.

SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard are by JavaCool and both are free programs. SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed and consumes no system resources. SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.

More info and download is available at:
SpywareBlaster: http://www.javacools...areblaster.html
SpywareGuard: http://www.wildersse...ywareguard.html

IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will several impair attempts to infect your system. It is free.

More info and download is available at:
