Problems with certain websites including login pag Options

Helping out another friend...

This time the PC will not surf to certain pages. I've run lavasoft, spybot, and AVG. I've disabled New.net and deleted viruses that AVG found. Problem is that I can't use Windows Update, or any of the updates for AVG, lavasoft, or spybot. I disabled the Windows Firewall as suggested by the updates when they failed, but that didn't help. I also installed Opera and Mozilla, but these guys won't work at all.

The main problem is that when surfing you can't get into certain sites, particularly login pages. The problem pages include the main gmail.com page, and after you click a login button (tested on at least three sites: hotmail.com, yahoo.com, and a gift card "check your balance" site). Before disabling New.net gmail and google pages would surf to the New.net page; now they and the login pages surf to the classic IE "Cannot find server" page.

Can you please help make this a Merry Christmas?

Not much in the log but we'll look deeper. However....

First:
Only one Anti Virus should be providing real time protection, otherwise you risk slowdown and possible corruption. Disable realtime, or remove, either Norton or aVG.


Second:
In ability to reach certain sites may be Hosts file issue. Do the following then advise.

1.Download the Hoster from here: www.funkytoad.com/download/hoster.zip
2. Install the program and run it.
3. Press 'Restore Original Hosts' and press 'OK'
4. Exit Program.

Note: This program also has a Hosts file backup facility that may want to use if you have added custom entries to the Hosts file.


Third:
Please download SilentRunners from here:
http://www.silentrunners.org/Silent%20Runners.zip
Unzip it to the desktop and double-click on it.
If you get any kind of warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.
When the scan is finished, a message will pop up and a logfile will have been created on the desktop.
Please post the entire contents of this logfile for me to see.
