Hi everybody,
My husband got a game Rapala Pro Fishing and it installs correctly and we meet all the requirements but when the game goes through the intro, we get an access violation exception error while reading from address 0xa049000 at address 0x887bba, then it gives us a microsoft visual c++ runtime library error. It will not stay up long enough to get anyother info.
I have search for the answer with no luck, and have e-mailed the game place and they don't have a clue.
I would appreciate any help.

Post the exact errors please. And have you tried a total uninstall, restart snd the reinstall of the game?

Hi Mosaic1, I have tryed to uninstall and reinstall the game twice and still will not play.
I cannot get the error messege to stay up long enough for me to get anything else about it. I can only catch the runtime error part.

I even uninstalled directx 9c and reinstalled, updated the graphics card and all drivers too.

I will try to get the error to come up again and see if somehow i can get it to stay long enough to get more info.

Make sure you save the file and that it asks you to replace it when you save. Then you can start the game. It will not take up the whole screen, but you can fix that by going into the options menu from the main menu and increasing the resolution.

I do not know what kind of card you have but..the GeForce FX 5xxx series of cards, do not support pixel shader 2.0, and maybe 1.4, and some of the effects in Rapala Pro Fishing require a card with a some of those features.


In any case to help they would need to know 1. What operating system. 2. Do you have Microsoft Visual Studio (or any of its components installed), and 3. What is the EXACT error message text? and not just the microsoft visual c++ runtime library error..what came next ?

I do not know what kind of card you have but..the GeForce FX 5xxx series of cards, do not support pixel shader 2.0, and maybe 1.4,  and some of the effects in Rapala Pro Fishing require a card with a some of those features.


In any case to help they would need to know 1. What operating system. 2. Do you have Microsoft Visual Studio (or any of its components installed), and 3. What is the EXACT error message text? and not just the microsoft visual c++ runtime library error..what came next ?

Question: How do I update my video drivers?
Answer: First, verify that you have the required minimum amount of video memory required by the software.
You can do this by:

1. Press the "Start" button
2. Choose "Run"
3. In the pop-up dialog box type: DXDIAG



After doing this, click on the "display" tab, and check the "Approx. Total Memory", and if this meets the minimum requirements of the software, then proceed to follow the below instructions.



You may need to update various drivers to current, up-to-date versions to allow the program to operate as intended. If you do not have the latest version of DirectX, you may need to update it to the latest version of DirectX which can be downloaded here: Microsoft's Website

Then you will need to update your video drivers.


To update the video drivers you will need to contact either the manufacturer of your computer or the manufacturer of your video card. Usually the easiest and quickest way to get the drivers is by going to their website and looking for a “technical support” or “download drivers” section. To do this you will first need to know what type of video card you have. Follow the steps below to find out this information.

1. Click on START.
2. Click on SETTINGS.
3. Click on CONTROL PANEL.
4. Double click on the SYSTEM icon.
5. When the System Properties window opens, click on the DEVICE MANAGER tab.
6. Look for the line DISPLAY ADAPTERS and click on the plus sign (+) to the left of it. (If you do not see “display adapters” on the list, click on the radio button at the top of the windows that says “View Devices by Type”)
7. A line will drop down underneath DISPLAY ADAPTERS listing the manufacturer and model of your video card. The information usually list the manufacturer first and the model second. For example: “ATI Rage Pro 128” shows that the card is made by “ATI” and that the model is “Rage Pro 128.”

Once you know who made your video card and what model it is, do a search on the internet for the company. Most all manufacturer's have the drivers available for download on their website at no charge. If you are not comfortable doing this, or you can't find the drivers, call the manufacturer and they should be able to help you.

Thank you Hunter and we got the game a couple of weeks ago at a game store brand new. I checked for updates to the game and did not see any.
We have a S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR video card that I thought was 3d, but maybe iits not...we have 100gb hard drive with 95% free space and 1024mb ram and wxp home , all drivers have been updated and even chipset. I have directx 9c. I have sent the dxdiag log and the debug log to the activisionvalue and been talking to b. snyder about this but he is having trouble with it, I'll check back and let you all know.
