I have ran AVG Anti Spyware and Adaware Pro, still the computer performs slowly. I have a hunch it could be caused by some nasties. Here is my hijackthis log.

Another problem that I face is a bug report stating "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close."

THe HJT log is clean, but we can check further. Re the Generic Host Error. Check the system log and the application log in the event viewer. (Control Panels -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer). You can export the log as a text file (Action -> Export List) and then cut and paste any pertinent sections for review.

One item in the Silent Runners log needs to be removed. Then we need more info on the application error.

First:
Launch Notepad, and copy/paste in the box below to a new text file.
Save it on your Desktop as fixme.reg

Double click on one of the Application Errors in your Event Log(s). I want the name of the application involved if it is specified. Check more than one to be sure that the same application is being reported each time.

Check the task manager after boot and see if a copy of svchost.exe is continuously using over 15% of the CPU.

I have done the instructions you posted above.

The faulting application is svchost.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, faulting module netapi32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x0000a3c0. On few and rare occasions, the faulting applications are web browsers when they hang during use.

svchost.exe has a 00 CPU usage. Another .exe by the name of spoolsv.exe is using 99% CPU. I am viewing this through the Process tab of the Task Manager.

It seems that spoolsv.exe is the problem. I found a recent MS Knowledgebase article about it.

I have carried them out and my computer is working faster. CPU usage is not constantly 100% anymore but fluctuates.

I still face the General Host error message though.

I doubt you fixed the Spooler problem since the fix requires new files from MS. Most likely you have removed the result, and if left unpatched, may happend again. I strongly urge you to follow the instructions in the MS Knowledgebase article and get the hotfix.

Re the General Host error, you ahve not posted any of them yet. The ones you did are from the Application log. Try the System log and post the pertinent events as before.
