First:
Limewire is not technically malware by itself, but it installs malware in order to run properly and it opens the door for every other nasty program you can think of. I strongly recommend that you remove it. Read this article for alternatives that will provide some of the same function without the garbage: http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/p2p/ If you opt to remove it, first use "Add/Remove Program" to remove it and any reference to LimeWire. This is another article: http://www.cexx.org/adware.htm This is an open source version of LimeWire: FrostWire. Be aware that this does not mean that what you download is malware free.[/quote] Second: You need to update your JavaRuntime module(s) to the most current version [ JRE Version 1.6.0b3 ]. You can download it directly from Sun at this link: http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp Note: Be sure to remove all prior versions, using Add/Remove Programs, before you install the new one. Reboot after removal and prior to installation. Third: Run HiJackThis and press the Scan' button When the scan is finished: Check the following items in HijackThis. O2 - BHO: CDNSCacheObj Object - {376892AE-1825-4E5F-9F85-23F9640051CC} - C:\WINDOWS\ietorrntplug.dll Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked. Reboot in normal mode Run HiJackThis again and post a new log in this thread. -------------------- Happiness ain't a thing in itself--it's only a contrast with something that ain't pleasant.
