Problems with Mozilla Thunderbird links
Posted 29 June 2008 - 10:29 PM
When you open Thunderbird, there is a link to the Mozilla homepage. Initially I am able to click on the link and get to Mozilla's home page without problem.
If I close my browser (Firefox 3.0) and then re-click on the link, nothing happens.
As far as I can remember, I have also been unable to open email links provided by the spam filtering service 'CleanMyMail.' With DW inactivated, I have no problems.
I am sure that I am missing something obvious here!
Also running KIS 2009

1. Clean up "Events log" sheet ("Delete all"->"Apply")
2. Run Thunderbird and reproduce the issue.
3. Without running more untrusted, find defensewall_log.log file, zip and send to support e-mail.
Edited- just tried to reproduce this at my computer. Everything is working as it should. So, please, send me step-by-step guide on reproduceing this issue too, alongside with zipped defensewall_log.log file .

This problem with TB is a pretty common problem. It has to do with the fact that FF is not the default browser.
The advice everyone is finding helpful is to tell FF to not be the default browser. The make IE the default browser. Then go back into FF and make it the default browser. I did this and it worked for me. For a while.
There is a better way that is more reliable.
In Windows XP (don't know about other versions of the Windows OS) click START then click SET PROGRAM ACCESS AND DEFAULTS. Click CUSTOM and tell it to use FF and TB. Also, make sure you uncheck ENABLE ACCESS TO THIS PROGRAM beside OE and IE. Then Windows will disable access to those programs. Bitta-bing-bitta-boom- you're fixed.
You may have to disable DW in order for Windows to disable access to IE and OE. I did.
