New build is uploaded. It, mostly, improves whitelisting - now on, if the application is allowed to be modified by untrusted, DefenseWall copies it into the "virtualization" folder and only then run it. The function is raw, need your tests.

oh, I am very interested in the new function. But there is no relevant option in the new build. So please let me know how to test the new function? Thanks a lot in advance.

Yes, I agree. Well, the new functionality is about whitelisting. So, if you download an .exe file (or have it at your flash drive) that is known as good, it should runs as trusted automatically. If you run such the file from within untrusted area, it will be copied into the "c:\DefenseWallVC_Apps" folder and executed. If you run from within trusted area- it will be running trusted right from the its original place.

"Known as good" means here "digitally signed and its vendor is known as trusted".

I have been testing the DFW Firewall on a new build I just did and it has been smooth sailing so far but I just ran into a couple of things tonight. I will ask about one of them but do some more testing on the other to see if it happens again and make notes so that I could describe it better.

My system is XP with Panda Cloud Antivirus.

I was running DVDShrink 3.2 as untrusted encoding DVD files. In the program interface, rather than just displaying "*xx% Encoding-(DefenseWall Status: Untrusted)" this statement flashed, alternating between "xx% Encoding" and "*xx% Encoding-(DefenseWall Status: Untrusted)"

This did not seem to slow down the encoding but did not seem right.

It may be unrelated to DFW, but I cannot start DVDShrink through the Desktop icon or through the Start menu. I must go to the Program Files>DVDShrink folder and start it from there.

I initially installed DVDShrink as "Trusted" and changed the DVDShrink.exe to "Untrusted".

I have seen a similar thing on the download manager window that opens up in Firefox (I use DownThemAll extension), and this behaviour was present in v2.56 where the window title would flash between "(DefenseWall Status: Untrusted)" being present and then not - I had always assumed that it was a quirk of Windows when it refreshes the window (as happens with download manager windows).

Hi Ilya,

I just received a pop up telling me that a new version was available. This is the first such update notification I have seen with v3.00. Is it now going to start auto updating as well?

No, new version is not available. Have no idea what could be wrong here, maybe, it's about server?

I tried this Comodo Leak Test and got 330 out of 340, which is fine.

But what can be done regarding the last 10 points?

Strange. Looks like something is wrong with the server. Try to trash out your browser's cache and do it again.

It creates and they destroys a file into the c:\windows\system32 folder.

How can that happen, when the process runs as untrusted?

Does that mean, that an untrusted program can create a file and put it into system32 folder?
