Full Version: Incomplete removal of isearch toolbar?
Gladiator Security Forum > Malware Help Forum > HELP! Think you are Infected?
eastcoastbias
I somehow had the isearch toolbar installed, and followed some removal options from various web posts like these. The toolbar no longer appears in my IE6 browser, but there are some extra icons still in the toolbar and I cannot right-click and change the toolbars viewd (they're grayed out). The same problem occurs in the windows explorer. I've attached my hijackthis log. Any ideas?

The zip file I downloaded fixed the IE6 toolbar problem. Thanks.

However, the windoes explorer toolbar still has the grayed out issues. To be honest, I'm not sure I was ever able to adjust the toolbars in explorer as I can in IE6. I am I just freaking out about this?

Thanks a lot for help. ahah.gif

and since you are going to download and install adaware.. :)

Make sure yours is set like this first.

Before you scan with Ad-aware, check for updates of the reference file by using the "webupdate".

Then ........
Make sure the following settings are made and on -------"ON=GREEN"
From main window :Click "Start" then " Activate in-depth scan"

Then......
Click "Use custom scanning options>Customize" and have these options on: "Scan within archives" ,"Scan active processes", "Scan registry", "Deep scan registry" ,"Scan my IE Favorites for banned URL" and "Scan my host-files"

Then.....
Go to settings (the gear on top of Ad-aware)>Tweak>Scanning engine and tick "Unload recognized processes during scanning" ...........then........"Cleaning engine" and tick "Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion" and "Let windows remove files in use at next reboot"

Then...... click "proceed" to save your settings, then “scan”.
