Delete the following folder named in bold.

C:\PROGRAM FILES\HELPPI<--Folder starts with these letters

This file also looks very suspicious. Do you have a program such a ref software audio? Can you right click (only do NOT leftclick on the file Bind Soap.exe in that folder and tell me the properties and version info?

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sixthsave] C:\PROGRA~1\ref software audio\Bind Soap.exe

You know, you can thank (or curse) Kazaa for these nasties. Read this discussion of Kazaa here: Almost half of Kazaa downloads 'threaten security'

Which will ultimately lead you to a link in my last reply in that thread that gives you some spywarefree alternatives if you must use file sharing apps:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://netsearchsoft.com/searchbar.html

Reboot and delete this folder:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\ref software audio<--delete folder

Scan once more with HijackThis to make sure it doesn't return.
Uncle_Bulgaria

 oK...~rolls up sleeves~

Try this.

Download the attached file (TheKillBox) and click on it.

In the space provided under *Enter Full Path and file name to delete* put:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\ref software audio\Bind Soap.exe

(or you can use the browse button to locate it.)

This press the *Find and kill this file*.

Then use HijackThis to get rid of these this entry:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://netsearchsoft.com/passthrough/index...p://about:blank

Reboot and scan again with Hijack This

Edit - removed TheKillBox for good housekeeping. If anyone else needs it please post your request in a new topic. - thank you
CalamityJane
Forgot to add that after using TheKillBox to get rid of the file that was running: Bind Soap.exe

You should now be able to delete the entire folder:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\ref software audio <--delete folder

Your log looks clean :thumb:

Now that your PC is clean, make sure all programs are running properly and then you'll need to reset your restore point in Windows XP.......why?

One of the best features of Windows ME or XP is the System Restore option, however if a virus infects a computer with this operating system the virus can be backed up in the System Restore folder. Therefore, clearing the restore points is necessary after a virus removal.

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(winXP)

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
