Hello, everybody. I just joined because I'm having virus problems too. Delf is just one of many viruses I've found on my PC that I can't get rid of. So, I googled for it and found this thread. Before we begin, please be sure that HiJackThis is in its own folder. This will allow us to use backups to restore entries if necessary. Please do not put HiJackThis in a temporary folder, or on the Desktop. I suggest using 'c:\program files\hijackthis\' or C:\HiJackThis\, but any name you choose is fine.

Also, uncheck the boxes for hiding known file extensions and hiding protected operating system files. We want to see it all. When we finish here, it would be a good idea to rehide the protected operating system files but leave the rest to be shown.

Hi, I'm a nother new member who came here seeking help after being unable to fix his PC's problems himself.

A few months ago, my PC's power supply fried. I had it replaced, but since then, my PC has been VERY slow, for ANYTHING it does, and often freezes. I'm not sure if this a hardware problem, a software one, or both. A recent scan with some of my antivirus and spyware scanners found some I can't delete, like Dropper. Delf.3.L. I googled about it and found a thread on it in this forum.

I've by now followed all the instructions: ran Spybot AND Adaware, deleted all they found, then ran HiJack this. And now I'm posting the HT log, as indicated:

Did you install Stop Sign by eAcceleration on purpose? It is not a program I would personally recommend or use because of it's dubious background and lack of testing, but AVG is a recognized good solid antivirus program.

I would suggest you only run one of them, as this could cause system conflicts and slowdowns running two AVs realtime since they will both be trying to do the same job at the same time.

Next, did you install the MyWeb search bar on purpose? If not, please go to the Control Panel and look for the MyWeb or MyWay program and remove it from there first.

Make a copy of these instructions so you have them handy as the next steps need to be done with IE closed.

Next, please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an x in the boxes next to these items, then press *fix checked*

Yes, I did install MyWeb Search on purpose, because my niece was using it and I wanted to find out if it was safe to use. I also installed StopSign/eAcceleration in an effort to get my PC to work faster.

I tried to remove MyWeb but I couldn't find it; I suspect it was removed by either AdAware or Spysearch. I did find the MyWebSearch folder and deleted it. I also think EAceleration got deleted; good, I've decided I don't want it.

BTW, I saw no reference to the Dropper.Delf.3.L. My AVG keeps finding it every day, and asking me to quarentine it (which I do). Will I have to take extra steps to deal with that?

Go back up to LoPhatPhuud's first reply and get the correct version of HijackThis ver 1.98.2 (you are using an older version). Do that and post a fresh log for review please.

Also, if AVG is alerting you about this Delf trojan, we need the details from the AVG log, specifically the file name and exact location (full path please) to tell you how to clear that.

Jane and Lophat: First, I want to explain that, when I came to this site the first time, I missed the instructions that said we all had to post our own threads. I noticed the second time, which is why I posted again. Sorry about the confusion, and thank you both for your help.
