Clicking end now closes it and there is no problem, but just enquiring a) if we can get rid of it cos its a pain! b) is it a virus or something?

unfortunately this doesn't really help. The path to Google is too general and the "TRSKD" is giving me pages and pages of gibberish...

Can you post a log from HijackThis. Maybe that will explain what is going on.
