Is there a certain loic to it? Like it happens when I run this program? Or do that?

Check out the logs from the system? Right click on My Computer, choose Manage and look in the event logs does that help?

Your log looks clean.
Aarontrio
Well, not really any pattern i can see. Does it when i simply leave it on. I did check my Computer Management logs and can see that the Adware SideBySide is involved in shutdown/startup. SpyHunter 2.7 also found Winactive and SpywareQuake on my hard drive. I'm thinkin' this may have something to do with it. Y tu?
Bobbi Flekman
Hi Aarontrio,

Hmmm.... SpywareQuake.... Let's see.

Please download SmitfraudFix

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Have you heard of these random shut downs before? When it happens, I cannot simply restart, but have to unplug the computer and wait a while. Then it will work for another 10min. (please dont shut down please dont shut down) It happens in safe mode, too. Anyway there's my Smitfraud log. Awaiting reply.

What happens when you restart the computer? Could it be that the machine is dying (or at least an important part of it)? Did you change hardware? Or overclock it? It sounds to me like it is some form of hardware failure at least.

Well... The log looks clean.
Please create a list of programs that can be removed using Add/Remove Programs
Start HiJackThis. Click "Config"->"Misc Tools"->"Open Uninstall Manager" ->"Save List".
Save the log to a convenient location, and copy it into this thread.

No new hardware! What do you mean overclocking? It starts up fine after the crash. Thanks for your continued help!
Bobbi Flekman
Hi Aarontrio,

Open "Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel. Select the following items:
  • Security Toolbar
and click "Remove" for each of them. If one of the uninstallers wants to download stuff or needs an Internet connection, skip that one and report them to me.

SpyHunter has been delisted from Spyware Warrior's Rogue List. Since the program was on it I recommend to uninstall it and use programs from the trustworthy list which can be viewed on the same page.

QUOTE
What do you mean overclocking?
Overclocking is making a computer work faster than is safe. It would mean that for example CPUs get too hot, and the computer would shut down at that moment. If it didn't you could have gone about finding a new house as it would started a fire then ;) As you don't know what overclocking is I doubt this would be the case.
QUOTE
It starts up fine after the crash.
Do I understand correctly in that the problems are resolved?
Aarontrio
I did those things, The Security Toolbar uninstall box said "an error occured, may have already been uninstalled, remove program from list?" I said yes and it did. Successfully uninstalled Spyhunter.

It starts up fine after crash meaning after 10 min. of being unplugged it works properly again for another 15 or so min. and so on... No problems resolved as of yet. I'll restart and check again.

Other people have told me their fan broke or the vents were clogged and I took the case off last night and fanned it out and dusted (carefully) the vents and insides. It was pretty nasty in there but didn't seem to change it's habbit of still shutting down. I thought that would do it... da**. I'll restart and keep in touch.
Bobbi Flekman
Hey Aarontrio,

I am too of the opinion that it is hardware related. Please keep me up to date, and if I can help in some way please let me know.
Aarontrio
Well, I'm still at a loss after continued problems... Maybe I'll run a box fan on it for a while or something, dust more or something, or maybe just buy myself a christmas present after lots of backing up uhm.gif
Bobbi Flekman
Hi Aarontrio,

I would bring the box to the dealer and let him check it out. If the fan is busted, then you would need a new one. And either you put it in, or he... ;)
Aarontrio
Bobbi,
No the box was ordered from afar so ITS NOT MY FAULT! :) but dig this: If I run a box fan pointing at it's innards (case taken off on both sides) the machine runs and runs and RUNS!

So that solves it, except I still don't know what's it's problem? : uhm: Obviously it seems to be a cooling thing, but I dusted it inside and out, and both fans DO work.

I am relieved to know the box fan keeps it going but hesitate to keep the poor guy in this pathetic vegetative state...

I guess I'll take it in as per your suggestion, just sharing some (good?) news.

Peace giullare.gif

Aaron
Bobbi Flekman
Hey Aaron,

goes to prove my point. Apparently the fan is/was busted. As long as the computer keeps its cool, there's no problem. When it loses it, it shuts down. Either that or it gets too hot and starts fires. You do need to get a new one in, maybe even a bigger if the original isn't busted.

I suggest you find a technician that can handle it, and get it replaced because you will probably need the fan you use now for somewhere else sometime...
Aarontrio
Yup. Thanks for all your time/energy/smilies.
Aaron
