Some tutorials I've tried along the way and the results. Follow the link to the tut if you're interested.

Snow !!!! ( Snowman is separate from this tut and is made of circles resized or manipulated. )

Wow, thanks Odidio for posting this, it looks so sweet!
I will certainly try that tutorial during the week!

well, I haven't noticed that you said that the snowman was separate from the tute for I would have done this your way, LOL! I did the whole thing at once, I mean, I had the snowman and the montains in the same scene and yes, things get in
your way all the time. I also thought of working the snowman on a separate window but I kept on working and finally got it. For some reason, My snow kept applying in the background only and the snowman never received any. So I ended up
adding the snow in P.S.P.! I guess I should have turn the scene but I was a li'l bored in the end.

Here he is without the snow falling....

Uguel
Frosty wants snow! :)

Uguel
Hey Odidio! I meant to ask you if you found it difficult to apply the eyes and the buttons to the snowman. I notice that most of the things you add in Bryce use to go behind the first created object not in front of it! So after spending time twisting the snowman here and there I realized that using the top camera could be helpful. Is that what you did?
odidio
Yes, top camera and zoom in a bit too.

:)
Uguel
Ok, thanks!!! :)

Also. Bryce is full of hidden features or out-the-way options, I just discovered not long ago where you can change
the general aspect of the mountains peaks so that they can look more rounded like the Dales. And then, I found
another option that allows us to apply filters. If time permits, I will post a li'l tutorial and shows where to find these
options so that new users can refer to it. honeybee.gif

Oh! I almost forgot this...;)

Halloween
odidio
Thanks Uguel, I see you're still doing some flash. I still haven't found the time for that yet, LOL.

I was reading about how to use Photoshop filters, I've used the free ' Neu! Filters ' in the editor a couple of times. It's a quick way to get some cool looking meshes.

A couple of places for bringing up the filters.

wow, this pic looks cool Odidio! You were good at locating the filters Odidio for they are hard to find. I haven't seen the second emplacement until you showed it. Also, very useful, if you click on "fractal" in the terrain Editor, you will see all sorts of terrains that you can pick from. I like that options for it allows me to change the the sharp aspect of the mountains.
Uguel
hey thanks Chachazz! here's one just for you now!

I tried out another one of Peter Sharpe's tutorials for making chains. It's very simple and you can play with some of the settings for different effects.

I started with some simple stuff,

and then got carried away, LOL.

:fool:
Uguel
Wow, I like these chain images, they look real cool! Another one I will try!
Have you also try the Shells and Ram's Horns tutorial? It's quite fast and easy to do!

here is what I got....

Shells and Ram's

I also did another edition of it but I must add some light in the scene before showing.
Uguel
I did a few landscapes some landed in the bin and some I kept, LOL

odidio
Very nice shell and landscape Uguel.

I tried the shell tutorial before, it was quite easy and I like using the multi-replicate tool.

This one is a simple combination of making framed textures and the multi-replicate tool. I swapped the colors later with Photofiltre.

Uguel
wow, this looks very cool! and when you think of it, the object can be a base
that can be used in a futurist environment.
odidio
I tried a bit of Robin Wood's tutorial for the wagon.

Went off a bit on my own too, LOL. I didn't download the tut to get the rope so I just added a metal handle. The pave and bricks are images I had placed on flat or rectangular meshes, I gave the wagon a wood preset and I made the material for the tennis balls in Xara.

The render quality wasn't set to high but they came out ok. ( The tires could be better )

Uguel
This is excellent Odidio, congratulations! ciao.gif  I know that there's lots of work implied in it. I already had it in
my bookmarks but the tutorial scared me a bit, and I kept postponing it until later! Tell me, you must
have learned a great deal by doing it...?
odidio
Thanks, it was a bit time consuming but fun.

The hardest part is trying to ( shift - click ) to reselect an object and move it again after it's in place.

Here's a screen shot of the parts before rendering.

Uguel
"The hardest part is trying to ( shift - click ) to reselect an object and move it again after it's in place."

I know, I mean when moving objects we have to make sure that
they will look good from every angle. It would be nice if Bryce
has 4 view ports instead of just one at a time!

Edit: Oh, and just a thought, do you give a name to each object in the object attribute box? ("A")
If you do, it will be easier to select a specific object only by clicking on the l'il triangle and select
the name of the object you want to move or make changes. This feature is very useful when
the workplace has many objects in it.

I made my clouds with the blob program!!! ROTFL
odidio
Yes thanks, I'll have to name the objects for larger images, I tend to rush past that part.

No particular tutorial for this one, but I did refer to Peter Sharps's 3d text tutorial. There is a little Photofiltre and Sqirlz in it.

The bell was a freebie for DAZ Studio but I just took out the bell .obj, ungrouped and added my own textures.

So Happy Holidays to all, guy_dancin.gif

The hardest part is trying to ( shift - click ) to reselect an object and move it again after it's in place.

You should use Ctrl+left click, this will give a popup of all objects behind the cursor

EDIT
OR,

use the selection palette at the bottom of the main window.
odidio
Thanks Stem, I like this Ctrl+left click option, it works well.

ciao.gif
Stem
Hi odidio,
Yes, that selection option can work very well, I do at times forget to name all my objects which can confuse, and I then use the "Tab" key to cycle through the objects.

I see you have been using the "Robin Wood`s" tutorial. I must admit they are really very good. I am currently up to Beginner lesson 4 (Weather). As you say, the tutorial are somewhat time consuming, but they are certainly worth the time (when it can be found).

Some nice work being shown here,

Best Regards,
Stem
Uguel
Nice xmas card Odidio!

and thank you Stem for the tip. I did not know that Ctrl and left click will allow us to see
all objects behind the cursor. This will certainly come in handy.

Hey, have you guys noticed how much Bryce gets bloated fast? Mine is 2400 mb already!!! OMG.gif
Of course, the folder where I save my scenes is big busted and need to be cleaned up.
Not to mention all the objects I added from various websites... I will have to move
some of them on a cd. angel.gif

Nice xmas card Odidio!

Thanks, I had it animated but the file was pretty large.

I'm wayyy behind you on the size of Bryce at 355 Mb.
odidio
Not much time lately for the tutorials, but I made a Birthday card for my nephew, ( if you want to see) LOL.

The background is a City Generator bmp and the text a black and white bmp made in Photofiltre.

The robot I had from before, I ungrouped it and added my own textures. I duplicated the head/skull part and on one I gave it a metal texture and the other a jpg of my nephew's face. I moved the one with my nephew's face slightly to the right and forward so when it rendered I would get parts of both heads showing. ( added the microphone later )

This is a smaller version of the original.

:)
Uguel
Well done Odidio!
I am sure that you made your nephew very happy with this one.
odidio
There is a quick easy one for a bullet trail over here at DAZ.

You get the bullet file free in a zip and the rest is pretty easy. I thought there was a little too much 'smoke' in his way so I changed the settings a bit.
Uguel
thanx! I will need that tutorial to add smoke
to a spaceship I did. honeybee.gif
odidio
I tried out a tutorial to animate a water drop, it could be better but it's the first try.

The tutorial is here.
The faucet was a freebie found here. They have a pretty good selection of models.

Uguel
Excellent! I like it a lot! The water drops so smoothly, it looks very natural
when falling down. I will certainly try it! guy_dancin.gif Well, I started the wheel wagon tutorial and
I just needed a break after completing the wagon. The tutorial is very good but it has
lots of informations and I found it hard to do in just one go. Nevertheless, I learned a lot
while doing it. Once again I discovered new Bryce hidden functions and learned new tricks as well. honeybee.gif
Uguel
Enfin!!! I finally completed the wagon tutorial. I think this was the longest tutorial
I ever did since I have Bryce. The toys were easy to do but the wagon wasn't.
I added a boy from Poser in the scene. I wanted to add a toddler instead
but it came with no clothes so I chose to add a taller boy!

odidio
That's really cool, nice work.

No tutorial for this one, just having fun, I did use stem's keyboard shortcuts to place the moon.

:)
Uguel
It's beautiful. Very artistic, I like it a lot!
it can also make a very nice sig once resized.
Uguel
No, it is not an add for Cottonelle giullare.gif but a tutorial I tried recenlty.

Island Tutorial
odidio
Thanks and nice Island, I'll give it a try.

I found a small tutorial to make an old style cannon and have it ready for animation, here.

There were a couple of cool things along the way.

One was changing the shape of an object as you go. With your object selected and in edit mode on the top menu, click and hold on the two small arrows facing opposite directions then drag your cursor to the shape you want.

There was a good one too where you do the old, hold Ctrl - right click to bring up the names of your objects to select, but next time do this, when your list is displayed let go of Ctrl and hold down Shift while you select. You can repeat the process to get as many named objects to stay selected you want or deselect ones you don't want.

A time saver too is when you have a material set up to where you like it, click on 'copy' in the editor before you close it, then the next new shape you make and you want it to have the exact same material simply press 'paste' when you open the material lab. No doubt the pros knew that but I missed it, LOL.

My attempt at the cannon.

(A little too much recoil on that.)
Uguel
It's very nice Odidio!!! ciao.gif And I like the materials you chose.
it looks like antique hand-made toys.
odidio
I found one for using procedural light gels to help make abstracts.

Easy to do and there are a couple nice examples there.

One I did quickly.

Bryce 5 abstracts with procedural light gels.
Uguel
Wow, light gel can give very nice results. I had that tutorial bookmarked on my previous PC,
I am glad that you put this link back! hello.gif
Uguel
I had a try at it too! hello.gif

Looks good.

One can get some crazy reflections all over the place.
Uguel
Hey folks, I tried a few David Brinnen's tutorials and found them very useful.
not only you will get good results but also you will discover a few more hidden features in Bryce.
