Hi there,

I am really having problems getting Incredimail to access the smtp server of my Yahoo mail. I keep getting the message that the server cannot be reached. I have tried changing the smtp port to 587 as Yahoo suggests, but still the problem persists.

I have now downloaded a similar program called Mokum Mail, which looks very good, but the same thing happens.

What can I do?

Any help will really be appreciated.

Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: pop.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 995)
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication)
Account Name/Login Name: Your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com")
Email Address: Your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., user@yahoo.com)
Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password

If you want to use Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird or other third party email clients to view your email you have 2 options.
Subscribe to mail plus:
https://edit.yahoo.com/config/login?.ev=1&a...rc=&.src=ym

or download and install YPOPS
http://ypopsemail.com/

then follow the directions for your version of outlook here,

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/orig...pop/pop-35.html

If you have trouble with set up, check the YPOPS installation page for alternate set up instructions.

You can utilize the most recent version of Thunderbird (2.0.0.4)
and version 0.8.3 of YPOPS (there is a more recent version of YPOPS if you are interested) and have no problems.

Thanks for your reply, I am now able to access yahoo with both Incredimail and Mokum Mail, but I had to use 127.0.0.1 for the server settings.

Now I have another problem, and I think it may have something to do with the firewall? If I send mail through either of these webmail services, the stationery effects are seen as attachments only. All other mail that I receive is in full HTML glory.

I have Windows Defender installed. Are there certain types if files that I can include?

Thanks
Hunter
It has been my experience that no matter how you have your email client set..either for plain text only..or full HTML..that some email servers just won't let you do it. But I am not an expert on this or why they only do it by attachments.

see here..

http://email.about.com/cs/yahoomailtips/qt/et071901.htm

in that Yahoo preference thingie or the Mail Options on their server..can you do anything to correct it so you can have HTML..??

And is there a difference between what they allow you to do with the free Yahoo mail..vs. some paid version they might have ?

Send Emails using Rich Formatting with Yahoo! Mail
To add formatting to an email you compose in Yahoo! Mail:

Click Rich Text next to the Subject: line.
If you see a Plain Text link in that spot, you're all set for richly formatted emails.
Send Emails using Rich Formatting with Yahoo! Mail Classic
To enable rich text formatting in Yahoo! Mail:

Select Mail Options from the Yahoo! Mail toolbar.
Make sure Mail is selected under Options on the left.
Click General Preferences under Personalization.
Under Composing E-mails, make sure Compose messages as color and graphics is selected.
Click Save.
