Just saw a short blurb about this on TV yesterday...

We take all computer equipment, FREE OF CHARGE, working or not, in any condition.
Your old computer equipment goes directly into our volunteer programs. Even while it's being evaluated, people are learning to identify computer parts. Reuseable hardware furnishes computers for volunteers and non-profits. If your equipment has to be recycled, we'll do it as locally and sustainably as possible.

Hi toppak; the first post is about a Community-Driven, Volunteer supported, Non-profit program; something interesting to us as we are Non-profit, volunteer supported, free computer help board/forums.

Your link, it seems is a commercial venture...so it is removed.

Cool! do they pick up in Toronto area? I just donated to Electronic Recycling Association. Do they donate the recycled computers to charities or do they resell it? ERA also pickup old computers in Vancouver, BC for recycling.
What do they do to those materials which cannot be recycled?

Read their news.... secret.gif

Back in 2007 some goverment nuts were going to smelt the durn things.

when we all knew..

Edward Wu, owner of Surrey-based Electronics-recycling.com, has been in the recycling business for some 15 years and processes 10,000 tonnes of electronics annually. Surprisingly, some 90 per cent of the equipment he collects still works, he said. He is obviously concerned that this new e-waste recycling program will have an impact upon his business when Encorp is handed their electronics recycling monopoly.
