Palette Grabber

Palette Grabber is a Firefox extension for web designers(not only!). It adds an "Export color palette" command to your Tools menu; selecting this command will extract a color palette for the current page and export it to a Photoshop/Illustrator color palette file. It's useful for creating mockups of new designs which share a color palette with an existing design.

My personal favorite running on XP Pro

Kolorgenerator (colors generator) is a tool designed especially for people working with colors. Can be useful for programmers and webmasters as well as "usual" people wanting to choose right color for desktop . It has simply interface and user friendly tooltips system, you must spend only a few minutes to discover all functions.

"Kolorgenerator works as a stand alone exe file (no need to install external VB libraries or .NET environment - everything what is needed is build in main exe) it means you can download it and run without any installation process. It's easy to move it to any place on your hard disk or run it from removable drives as a floppy disk or pendrive.

At first start program creates in current dir small configuration file. In that file all program settings will be stored. Deleting that file restores default settings for Kolorgenerator.

Languages: English/Polish (translators wanted!)
Tested on :Windows systems: 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003.

• Eyedropper:
  Just click and drag the eyedropper anywhere on the screen to select a new color. Single pixel or 3x3/5x5 average sampling options are available.
• Magnifier:
  This control works exactly like the eyedropper. It can be used to zoom in on an area of the screen. After zooming, you can click in the magnifier view to select a color. The plus and minus buttons can be used to change the magnification level before or after magnifiying an area.
• Auto-copy to clipboard:
  With this option enabled, the output value will automatically be copied to the clipboard.
• Multiple output options
  HTML hex, Delphi hex, Powerbuilder, Visual Basic, Visual C++, RGB float, RGB int
• Color options:
  Snap to WebSafe, Detect WebSafe, Reverse, Random, Convert to Grayscale
• Relative position measuring:
  Press the Control key while eyedropping and the coordinates will be set to zero (0,0). When you drag the mouse to a new location, the coordinate values will be relative to the point.
• Color History:
  The last 7 colors selected will appear in the color history. To select a previous color, simply click on it. Colors can be pushed into the color history by right clicking while eyedropping.
• Complementary color palette:
  42 colors that complement the current color will be generated on the fly.
• System tray support:
  The application can be minimized to the system tray.
• Mouse wheel support:
  Spin the mouse wheel while magnifying to change the magnification level. Spinning the mouse wheel while focus is on either of the Red, Green, or Blue edit controls will increment or decrement by 1(hold shift for +/- 2, hold control for +/- 5).
• BMP to clipboard
  Double click on the magnifier's window and it will prompt to copy the the bitmap to the clipboard.
• Other minor features:
  RGB Float mode will output the color as 0.50,0.25,0.00 Alt+[ will decrease floating point precision and Alt+] will increase floating point precision.
  -The standard windows cross hair cursor can be used in lieu of the eyedropper cursor.
  -Omit the # or $ symbols from the hex codes
  -Upper or Lowercase hex output

• Magnify while eyedropping
  This option is on by default and allows the user to see a magnified area
  while eyedropping. The pixel that is being selected will appear in the
  magnifier window with a black square around it.
  
• Use Cross Hair cursor
  the standard windows cross hair cursor can be used in lieu of the
  eyedropper to select colors.
  
• Relative position measurements
  If you press the Control key while eyedropping the coordinates will be set
  to zero (0,0). When you drag the mouse to a new location the coordinates
  values will be relative to the point where you pressed control. This is
  very useful if you want to measure how pixels a certain object is. Note
  that if you get a reading of 8,8 the area you just measured
  is really 9,9 because the zero row and column are included.
  
• Detect WebSafe color
  With this option enabled, color cop will indicate if the color selected
  by the eyedropper is WebSafe or not.
  
• Allow Multiple Instances
  This is an option which allows the user to restrict only one instance
  of color cop from running at once, or allow multiple copies to run.
