Update Notifier

This is an extension for Firefox and Thunderbird that notifies you when updates are availabe for your extensions and themes. Allows quick access to your extensions and themes and the ability to check for any available updates. Easily configurable for automatically installing updates when available and checking for updates when Firefox starts.

Tooltip
Hovering your mouse over the Update Notifier icons will display a tooltip with information about available updates. Here you can see which extensions/themes are available along with the new version number.

Menu
The Update Notifier menu gives access to your currently installed extensions and themes. From here you can easily check and install any availabe updates. Also, you can quickly restart Firefox/Thunderbird for the update changes to take effect.

Options
From the Options window you can customize the extension for checking and installing automatically. Also, from here you can add the Update Notifier to the statusbar.

Tab Sidebar
The tab sidebar extension, if you haven't heard of it already, provides a sidebar in the browser that can act as a replacement to the main tab bar, with extras. The most obvious extra is that each tab includes a preview of the web page that is continually updated, but you also get navigation buttons for each tab.

Since Tab Sidebar provides a replacement for the main tab bar, when the sidebar is visible, Firefox's main tab bar will be hidden. If you still wish to use the main tab bar then you can show it again from the Tab Sidebar options.

Amongst the features this extension now has are:

• Provides navigation options for each tab including history, stop and reload.

CoLT adds two menu items to the browser's context menu, both of which are only visible when right-clicking a hyperlink. The "Copy Link Text" menu item copies a hyperlink's associated text to the clipboard, while the "Copy Link Text and Location" menu item copies both the hyperlink's text and URL to the clipboard in the format you choose: either as plain text, as an HTML hyperlink, or as a custom format (which you may specify). A very handy tool for blogs!

Example of Use:
If the text "Download Firefox" is a hyperlink to the official Firefox download page, the "Copy Link Text" menu item will place the text "Download Firefox" on the clipboard.

Forecastfox Enhanced

Grab And Drag extension provides a number of alternative ways to scroll pages in Firefox, Thunderbird, and Flock.
It provides Adobe Acrobat-style grab and drag page scrolling and scrollbar-style scrolling initiated by dragging anywhere on the screen. ProCon is a content filter for the Firefox browser, based on BlockXXX (by Tom Christensen). ProCon filters any type of web pages, but if left on default it limits itself to filter pages containing explicit content automatically, based on the text. Distrust
Distrust is a Firefox extension that came to fill the need to privacy on your computer.
Distrust aims to create a silent browsing experience which means that the browser should leave the computer as it was when browsing began. This feature is similar and loosely based on Safari’s Private Browsing.

How does it work?
Author's notes
This is a quite simple extension - no fancy stuff.
When activated it reads and remembers your old preferences about cache and cookie state.
It then changes the cache state so no cache will be written to the disk and the cookie state so that cookies will expire once FireFox is closed.
It also notes the time it was started so when its deactivated or when the browser is closed the extension deletes all the history items that were registered between the start and end of that time period.

What does it do?
- Disable the cache. (Both regular and SSL)
- Set the cookies to live until the end of the session.
- Clean up the history from item that were added after it was activated.
- Clean up the downloaded items, from the download manager, that were added after it was activated.

UnPlug is a FireFox extension which lets you save video and audio which is embedded on a webpage.

UnPlug scans web pages and tells you where things like media players and other embedded objects are getting their data from, and displays it as a simple hyperlink: in most cases, you can then follow the simple download link to save the media file.

It doesn't need to connect to external sites to find where media is kept - but it can do if you want it to by downloading the results from KeepVid and VideoDownloader. UnPlug will search, ask and even guess where media is on a website, presenting its results in an easy-to-use results page.

UnPlug connects with a number of other extensions, including Down Them All and NoScript. Version 1.4.5 works as a Songbird extension too.

Dictionary Switcher's Autodetection makes you fiddle less with selecting the correct dictionary and if it fails you can still switch fast by clicking its statusbar button to cycle through the locales. If you switch tabs, the locale will be switched for you automatically, allowing editing different languages in different tabs at the same time.
(Now all that's missing is a faster dictionary load, but that's nothing an extension could solve.)

Special notes:
Turn on Firefox's in-line spell-checker.
Tools > Options > Advanced > General
Make sure "Check my spelling as I type" is selected.

Additionally type about:config into the location/address bar.
Find the preference layout.spellcheckDefault and double-click on it to change its value to either 1 or 2. For more details on that preference see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Layout.spellcheckDefault

Finally make sure a dictionary is selected, right-click on a text-area and select Languages and make sure your dictionary is selected (should have a tick by it), if not click on it to select it.

Firefox 2 contains a built-in Phishing Protection feature that warns you of suspected Web forgeries, and offers to take you directly to a search page so you can find the real Web site you were looking for. You can test the Phishing Protection feature by browsing to the test site.

Brief is feed reading extension for Firefox. Inspired by such tools as Sage and Flock's news reader, it uses some of their ideas, adds plenty of its own and hopefully results in something cool.

A short list of features:
- Integration with Live Bookmarks.
- Articles permanently stored in a database.
- Easily mark articles as read, star the interesting ones.
- Streamlined display of feed content.
- Browse your feeds anyway you want - view unread or starred articles, display a single feed or a folder.
- Full text search-as-you-type.
- Statusbar display showing number of unread articles.
- Feeds automatically updated in the background.

Known issues:
- This is not really an "issue" but remember that the feeds you have in your bookmarks must be Live Bookmarks (not feed addresses saved as regular bookmarks) for Brief see them
- NoScript users should add file:// to the list of trusted sites in order for Brief to work correctly.

Brief supports custom stylesheets. I am not a graphic designer by any means, so I included only one style by default but I'm hoping people will make some more, so I can put together a gallery on the website or maybe even include them in Brief itself.
