i've just discovered a new firewall: jetico personal firewall.

In my opinion it is a very good firewall. It is NOT the easiest to learn and use however

it's a little bit complicated to use.

I agree it is a very good firewall. I have occasionally used even recently and am seriously considering a permanent install for my new 2.8 Ghz laptop i have on order.

Believe it or not for a time i ran both Kerio and Jetico together and they actually worked perfectly alongside each other without crashing, but then there is no good reason to have to use 2. I conjure up many different configs and apply them when testing security apps and firewalls to watch how they behave together mostly on XP.

I just tried jetico after using 5 different ones this week, and I love it. Its firewallleaktest result is best. It does take a little playing around to get it to perform, but I have been able to configure it the way I want.

I do have a few questions about it, if anyone can help.

First, can anyone explain the logic used? I know it is rule based, but in what order are the rules applied?

Second, I am not sure how things like "FTP Client" and "Web Browser" fit into the scheme: how does it know something is a browser? How can I make other classes?

Third, is it going to continue free? I have read rumors that it will not. I have not upgraded to 2beta yet.
