I have been reading the description for both products (DW & DWP) and I am alittle confused. What is the main difference between the two? What exactly is Defense wall plus, a firewall?
Ilya Rabinovich
No, it is not a firewall. DefencePlus is a buffer overflow vulnerablilities exploitation protection. It is just like NX-bit emulator for the old-styled processors.

DefenseWall is a HIPS (Host-based Intrusion Prevention System), it doesn't protect from vulnerabilities itself, it protects from their concequences (malware installation).

Okay so it looks like you need noth programs to truly be protected. I have a question though. I have recently tried Returnil and I like it. Will I be able to use both of your products with Returnil?
Ilya Rabinovich
To tell the truth- I don't know.
hawkwind
Well i dont know about defensplus, but i have been using defensewall for some time now with no advese effect both on xp and vista whilst using returnil.

Hello Ptah and chuckfrasher,

FYI, you will "only" benefit from the additional protection offerred by DefensePlus if you are running an older CPU that does "not" support hardware D.E.P.. To verify whether or not your processor provides hardware D.E.P., you can download SecurAble which is a free utility that can obtained from the following link below. Hope this helps.
