WinPenPack is a collection of free and open source portable programs optimized for use with a USB pen drive and also directly from a folder of your Hard Disk. You can choose between some standardized configurations, all small enough to fit on your USB Pen Drive.

Standard configurations include: WinPenPack FLASH 128, WinPenPack FLASH 256 and WinPenPack FLASH 512, containing the best open source and freeware software found on the Internet, made portable and divided by categories: Graphics, Internet, Multimedia, Security, System, Education, Web tools, Business and Utilities. Beyond these 'Standard pre-made' configurations, you can also choose some personalized suites such as WinPenPack FLASH SCHOOL, containing educational software only, WinPenPack FLASH EXPERT, very useful for system administrators and advanced users and WinPenPack FLASH WEB, for webmasters.

To update a WPP to new Launcher:
- backup your winPenPack\User\winpenpack_launcher\winPenPack.xml file
- overwrite winPenPack.exe
- delete winPenPack\User\winpenpack_launcher\Lang folder
- insert the new folder "Lang" in the same directory
- insert the wppl.cur file in winPenPack\User\winpenpack_launcher\icons folder

winPenPack and Java softwares

For extending portability also to programs based on Java platform, we decided to distribute X-Launchers that allow these applications to run from USB pendrive without having Java installed on host computer. Due to huge Java runtime disk space requirements, we will not distribute the complete X-Programs, but just the corrispondent X-Launchers. Users will be required to "build" the complete X-Programs, following instructions contained in readme.txt file (into X-Launcher archive), or in the download page of each program.

1. General changes and fixed bugs

(all editions) fixed IsClosing bug and replaced all launchers in XDrive folder: in case of incorrect or incomplete launcher closure, the "X-Software is closing" message was shown, preventing to run the Software until manual deletion of temporary files;

(all editions) added utility to close all programs and X-Softwares running from winPenPack and attempt pendrive USB ejection (EjectUSB);


(2gb, essential, school, web) improved Mozilla builder for X-Firefox, X-Thunderbird and X-Sunbird, blocked script pause on system tray, shown message during portable version creation;

(2gb, essential, school, web) added utility for a "portable" files association with different settings for each winPenPack versions (X-Cafe).
