I have XP Home SP 2 and I have my Automatic Updates set to "Notify me but don't automatically download or install them". This computer is almost 2 yrs old and is fully updated and patched, but I started noticing this problem a few updates ago.
So when I get updates the lil Windows Updates symbol pops up the notification area. I hover over it and it says "Updates Available".
I click that and the updates screen pop up w/ all the updates and theres a box that says download updates. I click that and it would minimize into the notification area again and if u hover over the symbol it says "downloading updates x%". Normally the updates symbol would stay there it it hits 100% then the screen pops up and says install updates (thats how my other 2 computers are). Not this computer.
What this computer does it minimizes into the notification area, and if u hover over it it says downloading 0%, then it just disappears. Thats it, gone. So I waited for an hr and nothing happened. So I go to the Windows Update link and manually update. I see the updates I wanted when the symbol popped and it downloads and installs like normal.
Anyone know whats going on? This is happened the last few times updating but with updating few and far between I forget to ask.
Pls help.

Hi steven
it was reported that MS has some problems with the update their servers, doing the automatic updates. Users and costumers should look for a manually update if they are in really needs.

That's correct Steven as BU says there was a delay but the update site is now working normally or if you prefer set your computer to automatically download these updates

Ok it happened again.......
I see the lil Windows update shield Icon in the bottom right corner (notification area) saying there are updates available. So I click up icon and the updates window pops up w/ 6 updates. All are checked and I click download and install updates. The box disappears, but the lil icon is still at the bottom. I play the mouse cursor over it and I see the "downloading 0%". It stays like that for 30 secs, then it just disappears.
I wait for an hr as I thought it was downloading in the background. Nothing.
Thats when I went to the Windows update site myself and downloaded all the updates. It took a total of 1.5 mins to download and install the updates.
Anyone know whats wrong?
