Multiple Home Pages
"Firefox has the ability to have more than one web-page open in the same window (through tabs), it’s just common sense that you should be able to have more than one web-page open by default, when you open your browser. I find it handy because when I come online I check up on 3-8 different websites, and I can have the ones I visit most frequently open automatically."

Go to Tools > Options. On the General tab you’ll find Home Page is the first option.

You may list as many as you want, all you need to do is separate each one with a " | " (usually located just above your “Return” or “Enter” key).

Firefox Tutor»
(Note: this site has not been updated since June 2006)

There is a lot of content, features, and other "stuff" that Firefox has to offer that can be hard to find, hard to access, or that most people just don't know about. The goal of Firefox Tutor is to make all of this information available to you, through articles and tutorials.

Some of the topics that will be covered in an article or tutorial are Firefox Extensions, Themes, Search Functions, Live Boomarks, and Thunderbird™ E-mail/Newsgroup Functions.

Another goal of Firefox Tutor is to make people aware of the problems with using Microsoft Internet Explorer™ as their primary browser. Some articles may point out the issues that have arisen from the lack of a major update to Internet Explorer's primary version in years. If you are likely to be offended by this (don't ask us why, but some people have been very offended by this topic), you might want to consider not reading those articles. You are also welcome to dispute our views in the comment section of the articles. As long as there is no flaming and profanity, we will gladly accept your point of view.

FirefoxTutor also strives to build a community of Firefox users who are aware of the possibilities Mozilla's browser offers.

Stylish allows easy management of user styles. User styles empower your browsing experience by letting you fix ugly sites, customize the look of your browser or mail client, or just have fun. With an online repository at userstyles.org, you don't even need to know how to write styles yourself; just a couple clicks and the chosen style is applied.

Stylish is to CSS what Greasemonkey is to JavaScript, and unlike other methods of using user styles, most styles take effect immediately.

The Mycroft project provides a collection of search plugins (7597 at the last count) for browsers using Apple's Sherlock standard including [Firefox Icon] Mozilla Firefox and [Mozilla Icon] Mozilla Suite. The name Mycroft refers to Mycroft Holmes, the brother of Sherlock Holmes in the novels of Arthur Conan Doyle - Mycroft plugins are based on the Sherlock standard.

A search plugin allows you to access a search engine right from your browser. In Mozilla Firefox, you use the search box on the toolbar. In Mozilla (Seamonkey) you can access plugins via the Sidebar or the Location Bar.

Technically, a search plug-in is a text file that describes the information to send to a search engine and how to interpret the results. A small icon completes the plug-in so that search plug-ins are easily recognized. If you want to know more, read the documentation.

Note: If you are looking for browser plug-ins go to PluginDoc instead. However, if you want to add more search engines to your browser you have come to the right place.

Firefox 2 Tips:
Instant calculator
Firefox 2's suggest-as-you type Google search box is an instant calculator. Simply type your mathematical formula into the search box (Alt-K Cntrl-K to get there quick) and you'll get your answer even before you hit the equals sign.

Spell checker - Add to dictionary
Firefox add-on developer Eric writes in to point out you can add a word marked as a typo to the dictionary by simply right-clicking and choosing - you guessed it - "Add to Dictionary" from the context menu.

Time for some Firefox 2.0 Tips & Tricks?

Are those close buttons on each tab making you start to #!<}!!!*## because inadvertently you hit them when clicking/selecting a tab?
Want to change it back to the simple, easy way of Ffx 1.xx with only one close button at the end of the tab bar? :)

Okie-dokie:
1)type about:config in the address bar
2)scroll down slowly and find browser.tabs.closeButtons
3)change Value 1 to 3

Voila!
