hello.gif
Hi
After having virus problems sorted by Bobbi  , I followed his advice and installed Kerio Personal Firewall.
The problem i am having now is that none of my computers will talk to each other.
I am running a wireless router with pc's setup with various ip addresses between 192.168.0.1 & 192.168.0.20
I have tried to set up the firewall with no success.
The steps I followed are
1. network security tab
2. trusted area
3. add
4. address type - ip address/range
5. inserted above addresses
5. applied

Am I doing something wrong or is there something else I need to do?
Thanks
Nebon
Have you repeated the steps incase you did not click apply?

Hi,
Thanks for replying....
The settings had been saved, but I repeated the steps and still no improvement.
I have already downloaded the manual, but to be honest I did not understand it!
Should I be looking at network security or internal firewall rules?
I am guessing network security, but did not understand the section!

When you say the PC wont talk to each other, do you mean file sharing?

First, open Kerio,.. Network Security->trusted area(tab). Here you should see your network(Lan) address, set this as trusted. Then select the "Applications(tab)" and you will see (under description) NETBIOS (or Microsoft File and Printer Sharing), Permit in/out for trusted.

Hi,
Yes file sharing is what I need.
when you say network address, would this be the router address?
If it is I will try this later when i get home (at work now!)
Thanks

Cool. Well done Stem yourock.gif. I dnt think o that one mate. I thought that the computers couldnt communicate full stop. Not see each other or anything.

Nebon,
tbh they could not see each other, when mshome (my network name) would respond without crashing, I could not see any of the other pc's.
In the end the problem is sorted and I hope that information is useful to others who come on this excellent forum./
The advice on here is top notch and I appreciate how much time some of the members must put in and also their knowledge to sort out the problems.

I am not exactly a Network master but they should have still been able to communicate their BIOS's i meant. Even if file sharing was not enabled. I probably have it all wrong, but thats what i was meaning. That even if file sharing is not on the computers would still be aware of each others presence. Well I am just digging myself a deeper whole. ROTFL
