Full Version: Outlook Hanging

I have Microsoft Outlook in the Office 2003 Edition, including the latest updates. An email from a reputable UK firm has caused the program to 'hang' with the email only partially down loaded. No commands work and I am unable to delete the offending email. When I close the program the portion of the window which would normally show the message remains, and can only be removed by re-booting. The email itself I know gives details of a sale and contains graphics, but no attachments. Three gray bars appear at the top of the message box, but no detail, and the rest of the box is blank.

I have run AVG, Adaware SE and SpyBot and no problems are apparent. Each time I reboot and retry the Outlook program the same freeze occurs.
I have logged on to my provider and the problem email no longer shows in my mailbox.

I'm not sure if this is virus problem, but would be grateful for any advice!

Hi petes.one

Did this happen after installing one of the latest MS updates, hotfixes or patches? Have checked over at Google and could find some hits reporting about incompatibilities with Office 2K3 and XP updates. There could be read that some people could get rid of similar problems by a complete reinstall of the Office software pack, but first of all I would advice you to go for a HJT log to be sure that no malware is the reason.

Please follow the instructions here:

READ THIS FIRST (HJT rules)

then post your HijackThis log in

HELP! Think you are Infected? forum and our experts will give you recommendations what to do.
