ABC backup allows you to copy, upload, download data automatically on schedule from your PC to various storages – network disks, remote FTP servers, etc. The program can either mirror your data "as is" or create archived files or directories for copying. The user can customize the method of naming backup files adding, for example, the date of archiving to file names. ABC Backup uses the zip algorithm to archive data. It is fully gzip compatible (which is important for GNU utilities users and in cross-platform environments.) DriveImage XML is an easy to use and reliable program for imaging and backing up partitions and logical drives.

The program allows you to:
Backup logical drives and partitions to image files
Browse these images, view and extract files
Restore these images to the same or a different drive
Copy directly from drive to drive
Schedule automatic backups with your Task Scheduler

Image creation uses Microsoft's Volume Shadow Services (VSS), allowing you to create safe "hot images" even from drives currently in use.

Cobian Backup is a free, open source, multi-threaded program that can be used to schedule and backup your files and directories from their original location to other directories/drives in the same computer or other computer in your network. FTP backup is also supported in both directions (download and upload).

Cobian Backup exists in two different versions: application and service. The program uses very few resources and can be running on the background on your system, checking your backup schedule and executing your backups when necessary. Cobian Backup is not an usual backup application: it only copies your files and folders in original or compressed mode to other destination, creating a security copy as a result. So Cobian Backup can be better described as a "Scheduler for security copies".

Self Image

SelfImage is capable of making an image file of a hard disk or hard disk partition, and can restore an image back to any drive or partition that doesn't have open files. Useful for making backups. Unlike dd for Windows (or cygwin), SelfImage is capable of creating an image of a partition that is currently in use.

SelfImage can even create images of partitions that Windows doesn't recognize (partitions that Windows doesn't have mounted on a drive letter). This is perfect for the dual-boot system, you can create an image backup of a Linux partition directly from Windows.

This is actually a reduced version of Acronis True Image V10 and is free to use if you have a Seagate or Maxtor Drive connected to your PC. Note the qualifying drive does not have to be inside the PC/Laptop for the software to run it can be a USB/Firewire/eSATA. The software will not function if the program cannot detect a Seagate/Maxtor HDD.
