Hi

Having a problem with my DVD RAM. It is able to read CD/DVDs when I use media center or media player but when I use my computer to open up the drive it just opens up a blank screen. I don't know if there is a problem with the drive? I don't have an operating systems discs for my notebook so am a bit worried to start messing around with this as I am definately not an expert! The driver it appears to be using is for HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Well did you try to open theDVD RAM with the Windows Explorer instead of "My Computer"? If not, please try and tell us about the results. Perhaps some settings of your media center might be "wrong". Check em please ;)...

Hmm, what notebook brand do you have? Please tell us more about your notebook (manufacturer, model, type) and we'll check for more answers. If there isn't any recovery cd/DVD set delivered you might find that set at an hidden area at your harddisk. This part is often preformated with FAT32

HL-DT-ST is an LG drive. My first researches at Google told me that your drive might be a Light Scribe model but I'm going to get more details tomorrow.

Hi again,

Thanks for your help, but just after you replied to me I was sent a system update form Lenovo (manufacturer of my notebook) which then updated my driver. So now my CD drive is working correctly!
