Full Version: Can DefenseWall protect me from the people?

Hi it is me again.

I just want to know something about DefenseWall.

All the time people are coming to my house and they tell me if they can use my computer and I let them because I want to be nice.

So I found that they always install new things on my PC and download different things that I never use.

So then I got a different HIPS software (I will not mention the name here for respect) and I set it to block all the executables and I only allow what is on my list that I set up in the HIPS. And I put a password so nobody can change the list.

And now the people can't install anything because the HIPS blocks all the things that are not on the list and it's much better for my PC that way.

So how can I do that with DefenseWall because I can't find out how from the help file? thanks guy_dancin.gif

May be just assign them with a guest account? ahah.gif

That is really bad behavior.

Yes- set up password protection for DW and make those guys work under limited rights (user) account (this won't allow them to change password's hash in registry).

Yes I know but sometimes they are my friends and they are not trying to be bad to me but they know I hate when they download things on my PC so they just do it as a joke to make me crazy hehe.

And sometimes it's not my friends and just people that my parents have over and I can't tell them not to use my PC because it is not polite but I always hate when they install things on my PC. ehh but what can I do... I can't tell them no but I can add protection :)

thanks again.

If i were you, i would install a free software like Returnil:

So when your friends are gone, you reboot and can recover your system as it was before any bad use of your computer.

This case you need add some kind of whitelisting protection- MS allow profile setup for any account. So, you may choose applications allowed to get accessed (and run, thus) if your hard disk is NTFS under limited rights account.

Hi Heco, thanks for the recommendation. It looks like an interesting approach and I will test it out. Thanks!

I never knew this. Thanks for informing me about it!

I will learn about it now and try to set it up on my PC. yourock.gif

try Deepreeze or First Defence ISR or Rollback RX.

You should be able to create snapshot of your systems and then freeze it so that any changfes are lost on reboot for the guests. But You can use the computer is you wish
