I have been thinking alot lately about going into graphic design and have had a real interest in it lately. So for the past 20 minutes I decided to make a business card. I am just wondering what people think of it and any improvements that can be made:

Hi Nebon.

it looks good , the fonts and the colours, all match very well.
One of the thing I would change, if I were you, would be the frame around it.
I'd make it much smaller and all sides even, like this....

Also the text "Graphic Designer & Student" could be more defined.
And I am not sure about "student" you might leave it out, maybe just write
"Graphic Design" will be enough.

I'm sure that there are many other ways around to improve it even more
but for now this is what I'd do first. ;)

Yea, it looks pretty good.

That's a good color but I would go with a bit brighter or stronger shade for the brown text, just to contrast the black.
It does look a bit too wide for a business card though.

If you are using Photoshop there is a very quick tutorial 'here'. It's geared a little towards having them printed but it gives you a template to work with, some tips on the sizes and other stuff.

I also noticed that the background wasn't completely solid black so he could make it even darker
and if he brightens the letters even more like you said it will have more contrast and a greater impact as well.

I agree but I was not sure if he did it on purpose for us to see better.
I just had a look at the business cards I have and the average size is 3 1/2 X 2 inches or 9 x 5 cm

Just saw the link and it looks good, they also give recommendations for the size too.

That was just meant to be a background and not part of the card. Sorry if it was confusing.

Doing it now as we speak.

If it's for the internet though and not really for printing, I'd go a bit bigger in size.

(Compared to the printing size.)

I like it,.. but maybe an addition on the right hand side (possibly bottom right corner), it just looks a little empty on that side compared to the left. Maybe a mirror image (but smaller) of the top left pattern??

Hi Connor mate

hmmm..... hmmmm... do you wanna open your own business? The business card in your first posting reminds me of a detective office *g*... only a hot secretary is still missing and a nickname for ya.
How about

"Connor Eyeglass Rogers, Private detective"

;)

Thanks very much Udo :) I find designing is a bit of a stress release for me and the creativeness helps me to relax.
