Whenever I open a Word attachment in an email, DefenseWall runs the process as untrusted (correct behaviour). However, if I attempt a 'save as' with this file onto my hard disk, on closing down Word I get a number of warnings about the action I've taken (again, correct behaviour).

The question is this. Although I can deal with these warnings, my wife can't. Is there any way to permanently allow Word attachments to be opened and saved without triggering DefenseWall.

Sorry, I can't get what is exactly going on. What is your version of DW?

I'm using 2.09 but the problem isn't with DW - it's that I need to do something that DW wasn't designed to do, perhaps.

This is what happens:

1. My email client, Mulberry, is running as an untrusted app. I open a Word attachment from my IMAP mail account.

2. Word opens and I can read the file.

3. I 'file/save as' the file into a sub folder of My Documents. So far so good!

4. When I close the doc a dialogue box says "cannot complete the save due to a file permission error (it mentions the template file and location)

5. I OK that and another box pops up saying "Word encountered a problem trying to save the document. Do you want to want to save the doc as a rescue doc and attempt to recover it next time Word opens". I say no, and then a standard Word save box opens pointing at the template location.

6. I cancel that and click the top right X to close Word. Another dialogue pops up "changes have been made that affect the normal template. Do you want to save changes?". I say no and Word shuts.

Now, I can cope with this but, as I say, my wife, who probably saves around 10 docs a day will be reduced to tears very quickly.

Any sugggestions?

Check out that "My Documents" folder is not within "Secured Files" list. Also, I would like to take a look at DW's log file. So, you need:
1. Clean up "Event log" sheet.
2. Run your e-mail client, open an attachment and save it. I just need you would got this issue.
3. Do not run untrusted processes more! Just find defensewall_log.log file, zip it and send me to support [at] softsphere [dot] com.

Soon I can t copy a website with the mouse and took it in the trustet Worldfile, because the Defensewall impossible made with the option,an nex untrüsted Wordfile to made and to save.

Today i can with art untrüsteddaten one trüsted File change.Bad, because zero-dy kriptdeviren my dokument changet.(???)

It doesn't matter, in fact, if Word document trusted or not. It is important if it is within "Defense Excludes" list or not. If it is there- untrusted may have any kind of access to it, if it is not there- untrusted can not modify it. If it is within "secured" list- untrusted can not get any kind of access to it.

Ok.I made a new Worddokument with worths.It doesn t Untruested and doesn t Defense exkludes.Now I copy a website with the mouse tade it to dokuments an close it.The dokument is change.That was soon not possible.That have made a virus.Soon with the User nes made,witch as untruested made and the old was Untruesteddaten.

One more time. If you create a new document with your Word untrusted, it is automatically added into "Defense Excludes" list as, otherwise, it would be impossible to modify it by untrusted Word processor.

Yes I know.It going around that I first with Truestedword one Truesteddokument do as a normale Workdokument is.It is "truested". But soon it was impossible with Untruesteddaten out the Internet to change but than the first doesn t change and with the User from Netz was a new Dokument made when the "untruested" and with copy from teh Inernet.I habe made a Ordnet in the "Defense Exludes and there Worddokumente to copy with there was soon.Suddenly i need that.
