I'm trying to be patient, waiting for Jei to update Prosecurity (PS), &/or Vitali to update System Security Monitor (SSM). But I have a sinking feeling that one or the both of them has gotten his *whatevah* wrapped around the axle. Takusan ittai, yo! tease.gif

In the meantime I've been trying out ThreatFire (TF), a community-based behavior blocker that used to be called Cyberhawk. Cyberhawk was a better name, I think. When I was a kid, we had a crude saying: "Sh*t fire & save the matches." For some reason, the name "Threatfire" usually puts me in mind of that crude saying. (Yes, I have a warped mind.)

I am very impressed with TF. TF protects against a wide variety of threat-behaviors (so I'm told, & so I assume, & so I hope). It's very light on my computer & its "advanced/custom rules" make it amazingly flexible. I have set custom rules so that it monitors outgoing connection-requests pretty much on a par with a greatly stripped-down firewall. I also have set custom rules so that it protects a broad spectrum of key registry items.

For incoming I have a NAT/SPI router, so all I run (on my TF image) is Avira, TF, & my router -- no software firewall; just 2 real-time software security monitors -- but some folks run with TF only.

On my SSM image, I run SSM + Avira + Snoopfree. SSM doesn't do well against keyloggers. Ergo, I glommed on to Snoopy because it passes all but one of THESE keylogger tests. I haven't found any other app that does better, & most of them do far worse.

By the way, PS is Snoopy's equal, but the PS 1.4 beta 3 is slow & unstable on my box. Hopefully Jei will get that fixed, but he has been incommunicado for much too long since he issued that beta. I'm beginning to wonder if he is stumped.

IMO a keylogger is a vicious & dangerous malware that can even work its damage on a virtual machine or frozen snapshot (so I hear). Thus, I may have to keep using Snoopy for quite a while. Its icon in the system tray is 2 (relatively) large eyes that keep staring at me. With those eyes watching me, I have become convinced that I must be guilty of something (shudder) but I can't figure out exactly what. uhm.gif

Der HERR segne dich und behüte dich;
der HERR lasse sein Angesicht leuchten über dir und sei dir gnädig;
der HERR hebe sein Angesicht über dich und gebe dir Frieden.

Aloha from the rain-drenched islands of Hawaii... bellgamin

PS: wait and wait and wait and on the end of the tunnel you (maybe) will see The Light. Is The Light represented by the PS Developer? Who knows, like usual he don't know he is alive or he belong to the zombie category. I am tending to the last option. He stick in his very secret and dark cave, only disturbed by a desolate owl, his loyal associate. Sometimes he leave his cave to hunt for some food, but this happen very seldom. He is lonely but happy, not disturbed by anyone, even not by his desperate customers on the search for their PS Master of the Universe.

Aloha to you, the owl and the PS zombie!

Txs for the update!
Maybe he appeared to hunt for his 3-monthly food raid cyclus and will disappear again?
Anyway, let peace will be your companion on the long PS Developer tracking road! :)

Sure "Things" Happen, in the case of PS_Dev it seem he has a lifetime subscription on "unfortunate" occurrences ahah.gif
