I don't have internet connection on the pc in question, but I need to install anti-malware to keep it safe --- I download and install quite a lot of software for tryouts, and feel my Avast anti-virus is not enough protection.

I installed Spybot Search & Destroy, trying to run the first scan gave message that "updates need to be installed."

I can't install "auto-updates" from internet, because I have no connection.
I downloaded the update files from Spybot website, but now I am searching for the "manual installer tool" that is supposed to be on the Spybot site, but I have had no luck in locating such a tool.

Can anyone help me out?
What tool do I actually need, and where do I find it, and how do I use it?

Thanks in advance for any advice you might have for me.
Hunter
I am assuming you have

Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.5.1 - product description
md5: 9286D3952F8CB08AD1BB4F3122E144CC

and not the old version 1.4

Threfore to update it manually you do it this way...the update file you download is and .exe file so just run it to install the update...after you move it to the machine that is not connected to the interent.

How to manually update Spybot
If the auto-update doesn't work, often because malware will block the connection to the update servers, you can download the update from Spybot's website directly. Save it somewhere you'll remember how to get to (the desktop or whatnot) and when it's downloaded, all you have to do is run the file. It'll do all of the updating for you.

This updates the detection rules. Only needed if you do not want to use the update function integrated into Spybot-S&D.

That got it !!!
Thank you Hunter, for the very speedy and detailed response.

I feel a little dumb for not seeing the update file on my visit to Spybot site, but everything is up and running fine now.

Great forum, I'm getting quite an education just browsing around!
Thank you again.
