Hallo I am Rednose !

I found your Forum, because I was looking for something about "Smiley Central".

Like Your Smiley !
yourock.gif

Well - My Quistion is:

What Anti-Mailware/Spyware/Ad-Aware Programs, and what it all are called shall I use?

My New PC is complete clean. (One day old)

Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit with Windows Defender, Avast! 4.7.

Know I should have some extra security.

But like to have Your advise for what.

It shall work with Vista + Avast!

I use Firefox with IE Tap and never accept 3. parts cookies (And only few 1. parts, like to this Forum)

So what goes with that? - I want to be as secure as can be. But will not install anything, who not work or even make conflict -
That is why I ask Gladiator Security Forum.
To get (Free) Programs who harmony.

***

P.S.
It is a Pity that Smiley Central is full of Mailware - I like their Smileys and their Wallpapers and so.
I like EyeCandy, and am a Child inside.
(Know it from my old PC - Did not have any problems, as far as I know)
But will not Risk anything now on my New PC

****
P.P.S
Do the small free games on the Internet also have Mailware?
Smiley Arcade, Big Fish, and so on
I liked those too
But again - Do not want to risk anything

Hi Rednose,
AVAST was a good choice for you.

At another forum they current have a poll and AVAST seems to be a favorite with many in 2008.

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r19739894-...Virus-Poll-2008

Also have you looked into this one..there are free versions and it is used by many people.

SUPERAntiSpyware is the most thorough AntiSpyware scanner on the market. Our Multi-Dimensional Scanning and Process Interrogation Technology will detect spyware that other products miss! SUPERAntiSpyware will remove ALL the Spyware, NOT just the easy ones!

Some people who use the latest version of Firefox like also their no-script extension. I do not use firefox myself so you might want to get a second opinion.

Other GSF members will respond to you with more suggestions.

Have a nice day ciao.gif

My only other suggestion to you is this:
Before you let any Security Program delete what it thinks is a malware..first check it out yourself to make sure since they can all come up with false positives at one time or the other..and make sure the application has the ability to back up those files you do delete and clean in case you do need them. It is hard for every Security vendor to know about every program a User might have on their PC.
Hunter
There is one more program that works good for just general cleaning of VISTA

Over 100 million downloads!!!
CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! :)

If you decide to try it..do not install the yahoo tool bar with it..and read about it first to decide what areas you want it to clean on your PC.

Hallo AgainHunter !

I just downloaded SUPERAntiSpyware without any problems - And I was lucky: No Red Threads.
(But I did not expect any either, as this is "a newborn" system) But nice to know !

Have a nice day ciao.gif

... The SAME to You !

PS. I fixed your signature in the forum

Other thoughts:

People with Vista who run AVAST, and both Windows Defender and Superantispyware combined, have had no real problems with that grouping. The only interaction some have noticed, is that on boot, Windows Defender pops up a window asking if Superantispyware is authorized or not. (This is not the UAC confirm window).

Avast updates the virus database every day or so, and a pop up window announces when it is updates.

Some set Superantispyware to run scans periodically ( and not "real time").

Since I do not like my browser being redirected to site that are bad..I also use HostsXpert from Funkytoad.

http://www.funkytoad.com/content/view/13/31/

It is a neat application designed by one of our GSF members Toadbee.

I use it also then to download and install the MVP Hosts file into the HostsXpert.

If you have never used the built in Windows HOSTS area to protect your PC in the past you can read about how it all works at the link above and get info on HostsXpert.

Or read about how HOSTS files can help you here.

http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

HostsXpert is a terrific multi-function Hosts File Manager

Screenshot
Note: no install required, it runs from anywhere ... when updating the HOSTS file make sure to use the Replace option, rather than Merge

Denmark... well I've visited Skagen for many times, started my trips to Sweden from Fredikshavn and had to smile about the "Rĝde Pĝlser". Visited the BUKO factory in Viby and wondered why Randers is so less populated. I like Denmark and it's inhabitants.

How's that:
