"Mitchell Baker has stepped down as the CEO of Mozilla Corporation, where she helped make the Firefox Web browser a potent rival to Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

Baker is handing over the CEO job to John Lilly, Mozilla's chief operating officer, who becomes responsible for pushing out the updates to Firefox and Mozilla's Thunderbird e-mail software, the company announced Monday. Baker will retain her role as chairman and stay active within the group, she said."

"I will remain an active and integral part of MoCo. I'll remain both as the Chairman of the Board and as an employee.

I don't currently plan to create a new title. I have plenty of Mozilla titles already: Chairman of the Mozilla Foundation, Chairman of the Mozilla Corporation, Chief Lizard Wrangler of the project. More importantly, I hope to provide leadership in new initiatives because they are worthwhile, separate from any particular title."
