Hello Everyone,
I have several questions that I hope someone can help me answer on setting up my security for my Linksys router.
As of right now I have Mac Filtering turned on and I have passworded the sign on screen for Linksys.
Here is the set up I have.... My computer is set up to a linksys wireless router, and I have 2 other computers at the present moment which are wireless and connected to the same router.
now for the questions!
1. How can I find out what security settings the following router and the wireless devices have such as wpa or wep. I want to set up wpa on all my computer for security but can't tell if they are wpa compatible. Is there a way to tell? If they are not, do I have to buy new wireless equipment or are there firmware updates that will update them.
2. I have tried to disable SSID on the linksys router and when I do, none of the computers which are wireless can access the web. I can still access the web on my computer which is hooked up to the router. Is there a way to disable SSID and still have my 2 other computers be able to connect to the internet, or must I always broadcast the SSID.
3. When signing on to my linksys router, is asks me for my password, which I have changed to something other than the original password. I was wondering though if there is a way to require a user name also to access it. Right now the user name is just blank.
4. That's it, are there any other security features that I might want to look into that I am missing for my router. Thanks so much.
Mike
