Hope this is the right place.I have recently added a gig of memory to my exsisting 512 stick and was wondering if there are any alterations that need doing in:

System ptoperties>advanced>Perormance options>advanced>virtual memory> change box?

The paging file size is currently set at 768 - 1536 MB.

Pagedefrag

PageDefrag works on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Server 2003.

As you have added more memory this may have caused the pagefile to become fragmented and this can have a negative effect on performance.

I usually set my page file to the maximum recommended size as the pagefile under your current settings can grow and shrink as required which means it's gets fragmented and can effect performance.

I'd set the initial size to 1536 and the maximum to 1536.

If you want to improve pagefile performance further move it to another hdd, although for debugging purposes leave a small page file on your C drive.

Hi there

very often users are asking, which memory modules they can or should buy to prevent any problems with their computers. Some vendors have a special support called Memory Search, Memory Configurator or Memory Finder. Here you can fill a form with details of your computer (f.e. brand, motherboard, series, model etc.) and after submitting the data you will get back suggestions for your system.

Note:
This list is not an exhausing one. There are lot of known vendors which do not support such a configurator on their websites. Feel free to add links if you have aditional details.
