so. about 2 weeks ago. my laptop. i have a sony vaio. it started saying it cant find the hardware drivers for anything that i plug up for my usb. or my memory card for my digi cam. i cant even use my usb mouse anymore. and i didnt change or install anything to make it do that. any advice?

the stuff that i previously had installed works still. like i can plug up my ipod and my audio interface for recording things. but thats it.
any help would help.

i fixed it. i deleted sp1. but its working now.

what kind of Vistas SP1 did you install? Any RC version or what kind ever. I do not remember any reported problems about USB ports, -connections or card readers after SP1 was installed. Can you be a bit more specific about the SP1 version you did use?
