This code is that appears when you get a Blue Screen of Death, also referred to as a BSOD.


1. Press the start button or the windows icon on your keyboard.
2. Press the run icon . You can also press the windows icon + R.

3. Into the dialog box that has just appeared type eventvwr.msc. You should then see a screen like this:

Note: The left hand pane may contain fewer or more categories featured on the picture above.

4. Left click on the first category in the left hand pane, in this case it is application.
5. In the right hand pane search for errors that have the same date and time that your BSOD occurred. If they are errors you will see this icon in the type column. When you see an icon with a similar time and date to when the error occured, right click and select 'Properties' from the drop-down menu. If you do not find an error with a date and time similar to that of the BSOD, select the next category and repeat step 5.
6. You should then be presented with a screen like this:

7. The event should have an stop code in the description. Usually in this format STOP: 0x0000007B (0xEB82784C, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). We usually want the first error code, in this case it is 0x0000007B.
8. Go to http://support.microsoft.com/ and type in the error code into the search bar at the top of the page
