Hello donald; welcome to GSF.

Please provide a little more information.

Along with XP Home, what security software is installed.

When did this problem show up? Surely, your XP has updated in the past.

Do you have a valid, registered license for XP?

0x8007F0ED - That's not quite enough information; give us the full error code and information output.

That error code appears to pertain to XP SP3.

Heya Donald

Which program didn't go for updates? Avast or XP? I'm asking cause the given error message fit more of trouble with XP SP3 than with Avast.
That's what I could find at Google

Please get in more details about the problem, kay ;)

Regards
Bubba
