I just recently installed Sandboxie -- and I run IE7, MS Outlook, and Skype within the sandbox. My understanding is that Sandboxie can read from the hard drive but limits programs to run within RAM and forbids them from writing to the hard drive.

One question: I usually set my PC to "hibernate" at night -- just so I don't have to reboot and reopen all my programs every morning. Since "hibernate" is writing everything from RAM to hard drive -- will this compromise the effectiveness or safety of Sandboxie? I know I can delete the sandbox before hibernating the system -- but that means reopening the programs again -- and I hope to avoid this step if I can get away with it safely.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ben2World

Not much more than a Newbie myself, but. I do use sandboxie on one of my computers. Seems you may have the wrong idea about Sandboxie, in so far as, it does not isolate the hard disc, but stops anything within the Sandbox making changes to your system.

Best place for information about Sandboxie is on their forum, where a similar question winky3.gif seems to have been asked:

One piece of advice, I found in order to use Sandboxie effectively you do need the registered version. And, if you are going to do that it may be worthwhile considering DefenseWall. I use both programs on different computers, although, I believe that there is no reason you cannot run them side by side. Well, except appearing paranoid of course!

Oh! And welcome to the forum, I'm sure everyone would be pleased to see you back as a regular. friends.gif
