Full Version: Incompatible with iTunes

Hello,

I believe DefenseWall has compatibility problems with iTunes (8). When I was installing it (as trusted), the process didn't finish. I researched the error message that the installer was saying and tried all the solutions. Unfortunately, none of them worked. Then, I thought that maybe DefenseWall is causing the problem. I disabled it and ran the installer again. This time it completed.

When I reenabled DW, iTunes won't respond to any commands I issue.

I'm not sure if this is a known problem or if it's an isolated case.

The only other security application I'm running is Sandboxie.

Thanks!

I guess it's an isolated case. I'm reading a lot of problems regarding iTunes, so I think it's the one that's acting up, not DW.

As I know, iTunes v8 has a range of internal problems. Please, disable DW and check if iTunes v8 runs properly at your computer as is.

It works when DW is disabled. I really didn't want to install iTunes, however, I need it to synchronize my iPod. iTunes is bloated and has lots of problems.

So, if it work when DW is off and doesn't work when DW is on, do following:
1. Clean up "Events log" sheet ("Delete all"->"Apply").
2. Run iTunes and get the issue.
3. Export logs into a file ("Events log"->"Export") and send it to support e-mail.

Ilya,

iTunes actually runs if I set it as untrusted. If I set it to trusted, it doesn't run at all, which is kind of weird considering that it runs unrestricted.

Do you still want me to export the logs?

Thanks!

I just installed iTunes at my test virtual computer. Had no problem with it but one stupid popup message about their service (DW did block its attempt to open up trusted process with too high rights requested).

If iTunes runs as untrusted and doesn't runs as trusted- that's very interesting as I was able to run it both trusted and untrusted. Please, post here all your steps to get iTunes non-working, I'll try to reproduce. And yes, send me the logs, I'll take a look at it.

The first time I encountered an error was when I was installing iTunes. The installer was ran as trusted, and at the very end it said something about "...required files missing." I researched that error and is quite common to Windows users. Then I turned DW off; the installation completed this time. I thought it's just the installation process that's not working right, so I reenabled DW. To my surprise, iTunes encountered the same error again and will not start at all. I turned DW off, and it works fine again (as trusted). iTunes runs okay as untrusted, though.

I'm just going to attach the log since it's small.

Thanks!

Looks like I got the problem. Try this build:www.softsphere.com/files/temp/DefenseWall_HIPS_v2_45.exe
