Hi dudes,

Previously Im on Kaspersky 7 Anti Virus, Windows Defender and AVG AntiSpyware 7.5 PLUS. All have real time protection I suppose....

However, AVG AntiSpyware is no longer available and now, i needa start looking for options other than AVG AntiSpyware's real time protection...

Anyone has any idea which reliable AntiSpyware proggie that can offer me real time protection and it doesnt interfere with Kaspersky AntiVirus and Windows defender real time protection?

Thanks in advance ahah.gif

Hey thanks for the advices...

From my knowledge, i believe Ewido is under AVG now and they halted the standalone AntiSpyware software..

Considered Spybot before, but ive heard that its definitions are limited :(

maybe ill try ASquared Anti Malware... but does it interfere with my Kaspersky AntiVirus??

All said and done, it is now acknowledged even by the AV companies that AV/AS fail the user as it is a 'reactive' method (ie: develop definitions in response to threats already out there ) rather than pro-active, such as IDS/HIPS.. "Intrusion Prevention" methods. Thus, at a rather late stage, they are developing HIPS addon for their programs (ie: in Security Suites)...or in Firewalls.

Next, most AVs co. have also included all types of threats, including spyware, PUPs (potentially unwanted programs), keyloggers, etc in their AVs....altho, remember it is reactive defense. But there is always that mentality, 'more is better'...not so.

Then, keep in mind...multiple same-function programs is a redundant method...likely to cause system conflicts and overburden the system...how many AS does one need? Altho, it must be acknowledged, all are not created equal!

What security is really needed?

1) Strong Firewall
2) Strong HIPS
3) Safer browser and browser security ie: Mozila Firefox, addons NoScript, Adblock Plus...Opera is also much safer choice.
4) AV at your pleasure...definitely one for 'On demand use'....
5) A little user knowledge goes a long way....and a multitude of security programs just aren't needed.

However, we have been 'marketed' and programmed to think we need a battalion of security products....and maybe that was so with Windows & IE being such a vulnerable o/s and the state of development of that plethora of programs being suggested... more advanced thinking and knowledge has existed for a long time...the AV industry is late to acknowledge and embrace proactive Intrusion Prevention.

Take a look at DefenseWall HIPS here @ GSF...and other HIPS available to users...

Lastly, stick with the methods you feel work best for you...but don't be afraid to learn 'new tricks'....

Hello, in the worst case, can you try Kaspersky Offers FREE Rescue Disk To Clean Virus Without Booting in Windows. Source: http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/2008/0...ing-in-windows/

And you can try this too: F-Secure Rescue CD 3.0.

I think just stick with your firewall and you will be fine. Running too many programs might significantly slow down your computer.
