Hi,
Just a question, to check whether it is my setup or (on my setup a similar prgram like DW dumps when doing some tests, I seem to be the only one, so it can well be my rig)
A few releases before I noticed 70-80MB read bumps (increased reads which are shown with task manager) when I started an internet browser. The current release does not do this, so the startup of browser is actually faster (my harddisk reads 50MB per sec, so this is noticeable).
On the other I do notice an gruadual increase of reads performed by DefenseWall.exe, with small increases of say 10K, so this is not a lag on performance. But after some browsing on teh Internet DW has very high disk reads (after some it is more than a gigabyte).
I can not recal where I have read this, but somewhere I have read that using a FW besides DW causes this increased data access.
This could well be a tale or a monkey-sandwhich, that is why I am asking whether others have heard about this also, have this experience (by the way I do not notice any slowdown).
Regards
Kees

To tell the truth, I have no idea. Do you mean defensewall.exe reads or your browser's one?

i think kees is talking about I/O Read bytes (gigabyte+ in his case is very very much...must be a conflict...or he has many things in his resource protection checking stuff all the time)...
By the way, have u enabled the checkbox for DW to check if all untrusted processes are checked if running as untrusted?

Ilya,
This is after 30 minutes of browsing, a lot of I/O. Strange thing is DefenseWall feels faster. Until 2.46 (I have been on GeSWall Pro fo ra while), DefenseWall read a lot of data at once. This noticeably slowed down browser start (compared to GeSWall), but now do not have these jumps, in stead data reads seem to tickle through in small increments.
Good side DW is as fast as GW now at browser starts, so overall I am more happy with 2.49 than 2.45.
Chris,
Since Ilya implemented all my personal resource protections add-ons by default, I run Dw out of teh box (except for USB/DVD/Network drives and auto clean file/reg track).

Here is my DW IO after about 12 hours. I had restored an FD-ISR archive and Vista had to re-index everything. Would that cause DW's IO to be so high?

Are these high reads normal for DW or do I need to look for a conflict?

My DW IO reads are very high as well - higher than any other process. I'd be interested to know whether this is normal as well.
