I am having a problem with my Messenger. In the beginning, I did an update for MSN messenger. After it was done it wouldn't sign on. It said a firewall or proxy was up. I could use the web messenger, but I want the normal messenger. So I restored my computer back to Before the update...but now the MSN messenger is just a solid color. The menu that is supposed to have the contacts, tabs on the side, etc, is COMPLETELY one color. There are four up and down buttons; the envelope for email, an arrow to scroll right, painbrush to change the color, and a show menu icon. To make matters worse, I have NO idea how to uninstall the stupid thing. It's not in my programs to be uninstalled, and I can't just delete the folder. It won't let me. Please help me.

Hi cuddlykitten and welcome to GSF.

Unfortunately, no MSN Messenger here. Look at Start>All Programs>MSN Messenger and see if it has an uninstall choice.

I'd suggest to reinstall a new version right over top and see if it is now functional however, if you are using a software firewall, it must be granted access to the internet to function.

Someone else here may be able to help you better.
Please advise what OS and what security programs are being used.
