Full Version: DW + OA Question

I am currently running DW along with the latest release candidate of Online Armor and they run really well together with no slowdown. I have a question maybe someone here can answer. OA has a feature called "Run Safer" that can reduce the rights of any application set up to use it. Is it advisable to use this feature along with DW or is it just asking for a conflict with unpredictable results? I have experimented with "Run Safer" for browsers and Outlook while DW is running and have not noticed any issues but of course I don't know what is going on behind the scenes. Thanks in advance.

I was searching the forums with the same kind of question.
They both run great together but it's the behind the scenes question.
If anyone can answer this it would be appreciated. hello.gif

Hi,

This is also a question that I am asking myself?

Hope someone can answer it...

Thanks,

I am trying out OA++ along with DW and these latest versions don't play so well together. Long boot time and general slow downs.

I believe Ilya said DW 3.0 with firewall will be out in 2 or 3 months. That is probably the way to go to avoid issues.

Thanks for the reply but I am having no issues running both.
No slow downs or long boot times.

I just want to know if running a program in OA's run safer mode can conflict in any way with DefenseWall's untrusted mode.

There is a thread at Wilders on the subject of OA & DW. Post #10 references a youtube video confirming no issues done by Creer.

I am curious since OA & DW are working well together for you. I am running Vista SP2...how about you?

Running OA and DW on XP SP2.

That could explain the differences.
My laptop has Vista Home Basic on it and its always been a problem for me.
Programs that run so well on XP will not be the same on Vista.

I'm just thankful my desktop has XP on it.
I could not take running Vista on it.

Let's hope that Vista's replacement, Windows 7, is a vast improvement.

Hi Ed H,

Just wanted to say thanks for the link to Wilders.
That answered my questions.

I see that some posters mentioned a slowdown with certain versions.

I'm using the current ones with both.

DefenseWall v2.56
OA+ v.3.5.0.32

Thanks again! ahah.gif
