Hi. AVG Scan has just reported this as a virus which it was unable to heal. Have I got a problem as investigation seems to report it as something to do with Java Script. Any help gratefully received

Hello cooksfarm; Welcome to GSF.
Can you give the full path of the file/name...where it resides on your machine?

Hi Chachazz
File is located in C:\Users\Roger\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\CAOD5WK2\index[1].htm.
AVG can't heal this file
Thanks

just try deleting these Temporary Internet Files\from the INTERNET explorer tools / INTERNET options and then rescan.

you may find the file in question locked and if that's the case just let me know as there is software available to unlock it

Hi Nick
Tried that but subsequent scan revealed it still remained. Did search to find Content.IE5 file and even when hidden & system files are included it comes up with zilch.

Hi Nick & Chachazz
The thing that is confusing me is that when I google JS Obfuscator one of the top results is a web site for Borothersoft & this is part of the page.
"Protect, compress and optimize JavaScript, CSS, HTML in any source"
Edit by Brothersoft: JS Obfuscator will allow you to obfuscate and optimize your JavaScript files by converting variable and function names into the shortest names possible and by stripping out extra text such as comments and spaces.
FUTURE FEATURES
Ability to obfuscate and optimize inline Javascript (and the HTML that calls the JS)
Syntax highlighted code preview
Recently used projects
Convert inline comments (//) into multi-line comments (/* */) when line breaks are stripped out
Auto-backup input files
Ability to specify a common prefix for all obfuscated variables and functions. you can free download JS Obfuscator 1.0 Beta 1 now.
Probably nothing to do with my problem.

Hi cooksfarm
another try would be if you'll download CCleaner Version v2.18.878 from this website:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/.
Install this program and choose userdefined installation. Deny the installation of any kind of toolbar of Yahoo or whatever.
Run this program with the following settings:
Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentRun the program with the checked boxes clicking at ANALYZE
Click to view attachmentAfter the program has finished its work click at START CLEANER and confirm the request.
Please drop us your result in here after all. Tehre is an option to take care of the registry and its entries, but please wait with that til we finished that problem here, kay?

Better to download here at the author's site.
http://www.ccleaner.com/download/buildsThe standard build comes with an unneeded toolbar, pass on that.
The portable version runs just fine, with no install, or the Slim version, with no Toolbar.

Unlocker 1.8.7 should also unlock a locked file which may be helpful to you?

Hi All
Used Cleaner and then ran AVG Scan. AVG reported no threats so seems to have done the trick. Thank you once again one and all.
