ajap
hi all, I have had problems since i installed DefenseWall. here are some:
a) i can't run firefox from desktop direct access. it show me the following message:
the firefox.exe element referenced by this shortcut has changed or has been moved so the shortcut does not work properly. do you want to delete the shortcut?
b) some tray icons do not work. if i click on one of them before launching firefox. all work fine but if i do the same while firefox is running, they do not work. This often happens with ghostwall firewall and anvir security suite
c) sometimes ghostwall firewall tray icon is not visible, is hidden.

thanks in advance
Chachazz
Hi ajap:

Assuming these programs were installed prior to DefenseWall(?) a) and c) sounds more like Windows issues.

Try making a new shortcut: Delete your existing Firefox shortcut and go to Start>Programs>Mozilla(Firefox)>Firefox> Right-click and Send to Desktop..you will have a new shortcut which should work.

b) Ghostwall Firewall, Avira SS Firewall, Is Windows Firewall running also?

c) sometimes ghostwall firewall tray icon is not visible, is hidden.
Show all Tray Icons: Right-click Task Bar>Properties>Notification Area and uncheck "Hide inactive icons"..
ajap
hi chchazz, thanks for reply,
a) ok,
b) it isn't avira antivir security suite it's anvir task manager. My windows firewall is off and i'm only using ghostwall
c) I did what you suggested.
another thing, sometimes I get a message saying not able to install a drive of ghostwall to activate it I have to do it from startup option of anvir task manager, before installing dw it did not happen.

I'm not sure if this is because of DW, but, maybe, ghostwall is running untrusted?
Chachazz
As Ilya says... check if it's running Untrusted.

Okay AnVir!, sometimes those utilities come in conflict with Windows Utilities
(check in Windows System Config - Startup - if ghostwall [box] is checked or empty.
ajap
Thanks ilya, yes it is, it's running untrusted
thanks chachazz, ghostwall is checked in Windows System Config
then , why are they in conflict ? before install dw they had been running without problems
yesterday , i unchecked "Hide inactive icons" and so far i have had no problems. I hope it stays that way without problems
for both thanks for helping me

Chachazz
>"why are they in conflict"

That question may remain unanswered. The products have no support or development for quite a few years.
The author(s) - no where to be found for a few years too. Generally, people move on to more current product with support.
ajap
chachazz, i suppose you are talking about ghostwall, in fact, the creator has dissapeared, but the program is doing a good job for me, besides being very light, in fact, so far i had had no problems with it.
today my pc started without problems, all have been fine.

regards

Chachazz
That's great news...glad everything is working fine now. ciao.gif
