Hi,
I didn't use my RSS news-reader those last months but since I updated it to the last version yesterday, i.e. "
RSSOwl 2.0 final", now I can't open it anymore when I try to start it as untrusted.
It just shows its logo some tenths of seconds before vanishing in ether... It hangs at its logo showing (letting the logo's print visible on desktop screen), and does no more than stay there in task manager after that.It does work when used as trusted.
DefenseWall's log:
11.17.2009 13:32:52, module C:\Program Files\RSSOwl\RSSOwl.exe, Attempt to set value within the key HKCR\TypeLib\{1EA4DBF0-3C3B-11CF-810C-00AA00389B71}\1.1\0\win32\ (Registry)
11.17.2009 13:32:50, module C:\Program Files\RSSOwl\RSSOwl.exe, Loading untrusted/untrusted created module C:\Documents and Settings\Michel.DINO\.rssowl2\config200\org.eclipse.osgi\bundles\18\1\.cp\jWinHttp.dll. Process is untrusted now. (Process)
Thanks for help.

Strange as I have tested RSSOwl recently and can confirm it's running OK as untrusted.
Try to add HKCR\TypeLib\{1EA4DBF0-3C3B-11CF-810C-00AA00389B71}\1.1\0\win32\ into the "File system and registry defense excludes"

Could you tell me how we can exclude a reg key, in v2.56?

Ah, I completely forgot about this staff. You know, just try to disable DW's protection, run and close RSSOwl and run again as untrusted. If it doesn't works, you have to run regedit.exe and go here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SoftSphere Technologies\DefenseWall\ExcludeList
and create new string parameter HKCR\TypeLib\{1EA4DBF0-3C3B-11CF-810C-00AA00389B71}\1.1\0\win32\

No, it does not make it better, even after adding this new string in registry. But I think I will wait for your pending release (no news yet?).
Anyways, thanks for your trying to help and your hard work, Ilya.

Strange, very strange. WinXP SP2, Java 6 Update 17- no issues at all. Maybe, it's about new driver I use.

And it was the same for me with the portable version 1.2.3. Problems began when I installed the RSSOwl v.2.0 (I didn't know of the availability of portable of version 2 then.) I just uninstalled/cleaned it, and am now using "RSSOwl 2M9 Portable Dev Test 4" and it seems to be working fine.
I also first updated Java to 6 upd 17, but it didn't make any difference about the problem with the regular installation of RSSOwl 2.0.

The program is slow itself, imho.
Both installed and portable versions open in about 7-8 seconds with full DW protection, and disabled, very little difference (- 1.5 second).
