Not sure if this is the right forum. Sorry if it's not.

I keep getting low disk space error on my computer saying I have less than 120MB available. I believe I have 72GB. I have removed everything I can think of and it still says Low Disk space. Even done the Disc Cleanup. DeFragging my comp just freezes it and it never finishes.  Any ideas on what's going on or is my computer ready to just be recycled? Thanks!

What is your operating system ?  What version of Windows. Do you download with torrents ? Are you making automatic back up that are on that hard drive ?

This might help..but still need the answer to those questions to really pin it down.

I have Windows XP.  I stopped downloading torrents over a year ago. Only thing I download nowadays is knitting patterns. :)  As far as I know, I'm not making automatic back ups on that hard drive.

Set up win XP to show hidden files..

see here..

that might give you a clue..

Open your MY Computer..the right click on your local C drive and go down to properties..when that window comes up..how much free disk space does it say you have and how big is your hard drive?

You can also defrag in the safe mode..that way many programs you have downloaded will not be running and you should then be able to defrag..might take a while to do if you have not done it in a long time.

see here to get XP into the safe mode.

Already have all the hidden files showing. It shows I have 16.9MB free space out of my 71.5GB hard drive.

I'll do the defrag in safe mode overnight while I'm asleep.  That way I can work on my online class and look at knitting patterns. I may not be computer savy, but I sure can knit up a storm. :)

Thank you for your help!

I suggest you download and run CCleaner...get it here....http://www.filehippo...wnload_ccleaner That will clean up some of the files you do not really need.
